At some of my ministry locations over the past 9 months, our hosts had pets! See below for some photos!
Philippines (Manila)- Savage was a gentle playful dog, who sometimes would run away for hours, but he always found his way back home. He would also warn other dogs away from the property.
Lesotho (Mokhotlong) – Puppy was a playful dog who would come running and jumping towards me most early mornings, almost knocking me off my feet.
Swaziland (aka eSwatini) – Julia’s actual name given to her by our hosts was Snow White, but we found that out after I named her Julia and everyone got used to calling her Julia. She would come sit by me while I journaled in the mornings outside.
South Africa (Heidelberg, South Africa) – Meow was a stray cat that our hosts little by little adopted into their family. She still has trouble trusting humans, and will randomly disappear for days, but she always comes back for a warm bed and food.
Nicaragua (Ometepe) – Oreo was one of many dogs, as well as chickens and goats, at our ministry in Ometepe. One of the responsibilities of the children there was to give them scraps from the meals, as well as clean up after them. Oreo would bark at me every time I passed him, but by the day I left, he would let me pet him.
Costa Rica (Puerto Viejo) – Negro would follow us almost every time we left the YWAM base on foot. He would follow us about a half mile, and then he’d get distracted by a dog and leave us, but he would always find his way home.
Thanks for reading!
In courageous faith and for His glory alone,
