Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. Growing up, it was the time of the Easter Sunday School program when I got to stand up in front of the church and recite an Easter poem and sing with my peers and play a clarinet solo. It was nerve-wracking, especially for me as a shy introverted girl who would rather read than speak in public. Looking back though, what I loved the most was the excitement leading up to Easter. The Easter program was like game day and the relief at the end of the program was priceless! There was also the pretty new dress, new shoes, and new hat that I got to wear. Everything was fresh and clean and new. The darkness of winter was fading to the light of spring. As a girl, the excitement in the air was contagious.

Now, I still look forward to Easter, but for different reasons. It’s the day we celebrate resurrection morning. Jesus is alive! Jesus didn’t just raise himself from the dead; he is alive today and forever. He is actively interceding on my behalf, on your behalf. This is the ultimate good news of the Gospel. As one of my favorite hymns The Solid Rock says -My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus name. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. There is so much we can not know in this life, but I am sure of my salvation and that Jesus saves and keeps and makes beauty from the ashes of life situations. Easter is a celebration of this!

Easter is a celebration of that resurrection morning when a group of women found the tomb empty and the angels and then Jesus told them to go and tell the good news. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Today He says the same. He has saved, redeemed, and delivered me and Jesus is calling me to go and tell. Jesus doesn’t call all of us to the foreign mission field, but he does tell us all to go and tell of the great things he has done wherever we are. Whether it’s in a corporate office setting or in a school, bank, store, hospital, or even just to our extended families. Wherever and whatever setting we find ourselves in this Easter, if you’ve personally experienced the good news of Jesus, then let’s remember to go and tell.
