Last fall when I went on a Beauty for Ashes trip, I learned about the Beauty for Ashes facilitator training taking place in November and then March. Less than a month after we got back from that trip, some of the ladies on the team went to the November training, but unfortunately I could not attend with them because of the NYC marathon. I instead signed up for the March training. Little did I know how God would move between November 2017 and March 2018. Among many things, I didn’t know at the time I would apply and get accepted to the World Race.
Fast forward to this past weekend when I attended the Beauty for Ashes Facilitator Training. Beauty for Ashes explores topics such as our worth and identity in Christ and forgiveness and gives women a safe space to share their stories so that God can bring freedom, healing, and restoration. God knew exactly what I needed and when I needed it and how I needed it. At my table were four World Race alumni. It was not a coincidence! If nothing else than to ask them to pray for me, talking with them was an assurance that the World Race is the path He wants me to take. I had registered for the training even before I applied for the Race, and I had no idea they would be at the training.
If that weren’t enough of God showing me His faithfulness, I needed to be back in NY by 9am on Sunday so I could make it to church on time for a Sunday School meeting I was supposed to lead. The problem –- I was over an hour from the airport with very expensive options for getting to the airport for my 6am flight the next day.
In the past, I would not have mentioned my dilemma to anyone, but just worry and be anxious about it until I’m forced into a decision at the last moment. This time though, after praying about it, the Lord reminded me that He often uses others to provide what I need. So, I asked some the women at the training and was offered so many options, including places to stay the night at no expense. In the end, I was able to check out of where I was staying and get a ride and spend the night only 20 minutes from the airport, making it easy to get to the airport on time early the next morning. Why was I so anxious? God provided. Some might say things work out and call it luck or the favor of the universe. For me though, I know it’s my Heavenly Father working things out for my good. He is the one who planted the seed for me to go to the training, so I had no need to worry and be anxious on how He would provide to get me there and back. He is a faithful God and I am learning more and more to trust Him when I see Him and even when I don’t. His promises are sure.
In courageous faith and for His glory alone,
Sharon
