Working with children who are 4 years old, it’s easy to make excuses about sharing the gospel because of their young age and lack of understanding. But those are just excuses and where there’s a will, there is a way!

During our morning ministry at the school, the students have a 30 minute break outside. I decided to bring my bible outside and read it to myself in hopes that someone would have curiosity in what I was reading. One of my students, Sonita, approached me asking me to read a story from my “storybook”. Sonita is one of the students I have had difficulty with because she has no attention spam and does not like to listen… which has required a ton of patience from the Lord. Anyways, she sat down beside me and I began to share with her the story of creation leading up to the resurrection. She was in awe. “Wow“- she would continuously say. She asked for more stories. I shared the story of Noah’s ark, Jonah and the whale, and Jesus feeding the 5,000. After break, we went back to the room and she asked me to write something on her hand. I wrote ” Jesus loves me!” She ran up and showed the teacher, who is Buddhist, as well as a few students.

The next day, she came up to me and said ” Teacher, can you please write Jesus loves me again?” My heart bursted. Everyday for the past week, I’ve been asked the same question and I’ve happily written it on her hand. Each time she receives so much joy in seeing that truth on her hand and she shares with more and more people each time. Today, I was outside and she asked me where the storybook was. I told her it was locked in the classroom but her persistence in wanting to read the Bible led me to getting the keys to the classroom from the teacher to read some more stories. She said ” Oh my gosh, I love it! I’m so excited. It is so fun reading it.” We read the true story of Christmas.

I am so amazed by the Lord and His provision in everything. When I sat down with my bible the first day, I never expected Sonita to have such interest out of all people, but here she was hungry for more. Once we receive just a taste of the freedom and goodness of Jesus, we just want more and more. Even for a child who seems incapable of sitting for more than one minute showed so much interest and curiosity because He is so much more than we have ever experienced from this world and only He satisfies. There is no excuse to not share the gospel with others. It comes down to your choices and the little actions. I could have sat down and watched the children play like I do any other day, but making a small choice of obedience is allowing seeds to be planted and children getting to hear the sweet name of Jesus. Even though I may be unsure of the outcome, walking in obedience always shows me the faithfulness of the Father as He always has greater plans than I could imagine.

People are hungry for the Word and if a 4 year old can understand it, theres no excuse not to proclaim it!
