So without going into details, travel and lodge planning for Uganda was ROUGH. Some information I needed was either delayed or didn’t make sense. By God’s grace everything was finally set from a few hours to one or two days before hand (or so I thought).
When arriving in Kampala, Uganda we walked a long ways (was only supposed to be 15 min) to the guest house we had booked. Carrying all of our belongings we were tired, sweaty, and thirsty. We walked through people, motorcycles, cars/traffic, dirt, and pot holes… and we couldn’t find the place… again, by God’s grace we finally got there – though hours later than we had planned. Turns out we would have probably NEVER found it without the help of another hotel. When getting there they had 3 rooms available…. and they were all different than what I had booked. Not only was 3 sufficient but they had fans inside which made sleeping so nice, we didn’t have to pay anything until the next morning, the total price was cheaper, and they called a ride for us to the bus terminal in the morning 😀
We were supposed to go to a specific bus terminal to get on a specific bus to Arua. We made it to the bus terminal to Arua on time and paid for our tickets, which was exactly the price we were quoted in Rwanda 🙂 There was a stand near by so I could get airtime for my phone, which I really needed. The problem was, we got dropped off at the wrong terminal… and it wasn’t the specific bus we were supposed to take…. but it was the same destination and same price, so we just went with it. A man had us all mark our large packs with a common name and the destination in permanent ink. We put “World Race Arua”. After all we’ve been through, I believe it was THIS that made us official missionaries… our rite of passage… haha. At this point we were just glad we made it on time, we didn’t have to walk, and the price was the same. But then there actually turned out to be more blessings 🙂 We all got to sit together, the bus was comfortable with sufficient leg room, a Christian man on the bus started preaching and welcomed us Americans into the country, and we discovered there were a few other Christians on the bus 🙂
This whole past week I have seen God’s good and sovereign hand on everything. It was ALL Him. When getting into the bus I was amazed on what God had done the whole way from Rwanda to here, yet I was also wondering why I wasn’t dead yet Hahaha! God is good… He knows what He is doing, even when things seem so hectic, not according to plan, and makes no sense whatsoever…
