Hey, Y’all!
So yes I know its been a hot minute, but have no fear, there are lots of blogs in the making!
These past few weeks my team and I have been working with some of the local Buddhist monks here in Cambodia. We were there to love them, show them the love of Jesus, and to befriend them during the process. Our team split up going to different pagodas during the day. Some teams got to teach English to monks at a university, while others go to hang out with them and talk. My experience was a little different. Christian and I were assigned to a pagoda and the monks there were not as receptive as some of the others we heard about which made it really hard to establish connections. Through all of this, we got to teach some other students how to play guitar and talk with them about what their life looks like each day. While we didn’t get to share the Gospel with them or do anything miraculous or crazy, we still go to show them the love of Jesus and what he has to offer.
In the afternoons, I joined another team and we helped work at the cafe. Here in Cambodia, Ezra ministries (who we are partnering with) has a cafe and library to help support the free English classes that they offer to locals. There, we planned more English classes, and read aloud events for local kids as well as helping out with creating marketing materials for the Cafe. We then passed out flyers and the events are at the end of this week.
Starting this week, Parker and I have been put in charge of cooking for the whole squad that is here. So far so good, as I have begun to reuse some of my skills from working at Chipotle for the past few years. It has been really fun, going to the market and planning out meals, and even cooking them and seeing the smiles on the faces of others after long and hot days.
For my next blog, I will be doing a Q&A type of blog, so I need all the questions that I can get. If you have any questions at all about what I’m up to, what life in Cambodia is like, what the World Race is like, or random questions about life, type them in the comments below and I’ll answer them in the next blog.
THE MORE THE BETTER!
Also, as you can see at the top of this page, I am only $700 short of my fundraising goal! with that being said, if you or anyone else would like to continue to support me financially it would really be a MASSIVE HELP!!
Here are a few pictures from the past weeks:
