Hey y’all!
Originally, this blog was going to be a post where I went into detail about some salvations I was blessed to be a part of LAST week. But instead, I’m going to tell you about a time that God used me THIS week to reach 6 MORE SOULS for the kingdom!!! I’ll also share a bit about what I’m learning on the difference between true humility and false humility.
Take a moment to celebrate though… because in the last 16 days we have seen roughly 40+ people give their lives to Christ!!!Come on!!! Thank you so much for your prayers and support! You are a part of what’s happening here just as much as we are!
So, this week I had the opportunity to preach the gospel at a prison here in Mokhotlong, Lesotho. This prison has about 70 people in there of which about 30-45 usually show up for a church service on Wednesdays. This Wednesday, I preached my heart out and was blessed to be part of 6 people coming to Christ at the end of the message! Yay God! The lesson I’ve learned on true humility versus false humility happens in the leading up to this event, so I’ll touch on that real quick.
I have entered into a season recently where God is really purifying motives and clarifying purpose in me. In this process, some things have been revealed to me and in me that God wanted to correct. One of those being what I call false humility. I personally believe that the majority of Christians never intentionally step into a place of false humility, as I did not either. However, sweet Holy Spirit revealed to me it was there, and when that happened, I had to deal with it.
My false humility manifested in my hesitancy to own my gifts that the Lord has given me. God has gifted me as a preacher and a leader in the body of Christ. My false humility would: cause me to act like I wasn’t excited about an opportunity to preach; cause me to be hesitant in leading my peers and those older than me; cause me to be less bold in speech even if I knew what I was speaking was fully backed by Scripture; and cause me to resist even the title of team leader. This false humility is rooted entirely in a lie — the lie being that it is humble to downplay my giftings and slip into the background. What I’ve come to learn is that is the exact opposite of true humility and does not honor God at all.
Honoring God and walking in humility is found in recognizing our gifting is from the Lord, owning our gifting for the Lord’s purposes, and being thankful for the gifting. True humility for me is revealed when I get excited and thankful to have an opportunity to preach the gospel to people! True humility for me is when I am excited and thankful for an opportunity to lead others toward the full potential of who God made them to be! True humility for me is when I speak with boldness the word of God even if others disagree! True humility for me is when I’m excited and thankful that God has gifted me with the boldness, wisdom, and confidence to lead others!
True humility honors God and brings Him full glory. False humility dishonors God and robs Him of full glory.
Preaching at this prison was a blast. I had learned about true humility in advance so I was amped about the opportunity. And it was just as fun and exciting as I anticipated! I know for sure that I left it all on the field. I gave everything I had, and I preached perhaps the most heartfelt and passionate message I’ve ever preached. True humility is able to acknowledge that and I’m glad to say it! It’s an honor, privilege, and pleasure to be able to preach the good news of Jesus Christ! God is so good!
I hope y’all are blessed by the hearing of all the salvations! I also hope that you’ll choose to walk in true humility this week so that you might bring full honor and glory to God for how He’s gifted you! He’s worthy of the glory! Don’t rob Him of that by downplaying how He made you.
Take a moment to meditate on this quote that I believe speaks to true humility.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson
I love y’all so much! Please continue to keep us in your prayers! God bless you!
