A couple months ago in Ethiopia I was reading Matthew and just was truly amazed at what Jesus did for us. He loves us so. This got me so excited for easter and Jesus gave me a beautiful vision for what easter in Costa Rica would look like.

I imagined that we would go to the beach. We would worship with the powerful songs about resurrection and we would laugh just being in community as the whole squad. People would get baptized in the ocean and it would be a HUGE party to celebrate Jesus big. With this dream I fell in love with easter. Like literally this is like the best holiday people. Easter is the reason behind everything that we do. We would have nothing without Jesus raising. HE WON THE WAR !!!

When we got to Costa Rica I was wildly shocked that there was no ministry or plans for easter. Which was totally Jesus so then we went to make the dream happen.

On Sunday morning we woke up early and started the day with muffins and orange juice (which on the race is a big treat) and we got on the bus for the beach. The beach that we went to was beautiful, it was like jungle then to beach. Everyone was in there easter best and the moment was perfect. We worshiped with great power and excitement. People that were just walking past on the beach stoped to worship. When I opened my eyes someone was praying over this man with a cane and after lifted his hands and said “HALLELUJAH”. He walked around to all of us touching his toes. There was healing just because the presence of Lord was so strongly evident in that place. Then three squad mates shared and it was beautiful to see how God hand picked them to share of his redemption and the glory of the resurrection.

Then one of my squad mates got baptized! It was so cool because right when I announced we were going to the beach and we were doing baptisms the Lord told her this her time. She had been waiting since July to get baptized and Jesus always told her not yet. It was such an amazing picture of being pulled out of the grave into freedom. Thanks Jesus.

The rest of the day was spent swimming, making soul surfer reenactment videos, eating, Easter egg hut (thanks Lori Holland) and then some more swimming. It was such a beautiful picture of the church that we were just a group of people that love Jesus and celebrated Him where ever we went. The day was perfect and full of love.

I will always have a deep love for easter because of the power it holds. It should the most exciting day of our lives because  Jesus is ALIVE. He defeated death for you and me. HE WON THE WAR !!!
