I have made it to country number four! So what’s does that mean? I have been away from my family, friends, In&Out, the beach, and etc for four month now and it’s starting to get hard.
But that’s for another time. This month we are working with a rehab ministry called Mission Adulam. They work with youth 11-18 who are in an addictive nature. They have a home with seven boys and another home with 12 girls. They also work with kids from the community. They have morning and afternoon programs to supply the kids with different forms of help.
In the morning we are painting a mural in the kids home and also working with the staff to supply the needed help to support the kids in different areas. In the afternoon we have lunch at the boys or girls home and spend the rest of the day with them. We can lead small sessions with them and also play sports with them.
Meeting the boys and girls of Mission Adulam one wouldn’t think that they are in a rehab home. Looking all around all you see are friendly smiling faces that are eager to get to know you. They welcome you with open arms and call you out to sit next to them.
You speak to them and it seems like if they’re normal kids until you see the scares on their arms. The steps on the wall to get out of addictions and their therapy sessions.
They guys and girls have stolen my heart in this shirt time of meeting them and I already know saying goodbye won’t be easy.
¡He llegado al país número cuatro! Entonces, ¿qué significa eso? He estado lejos de mi familia, amigos, In & Out, la playa, etc. durante cuatro meses y está empezando a ponerse difícil.
Pero eso es para otro momento. Este mes estamos trabajando con un ministerio de rehabilitación llamado Misión Adulam. Trabajan con jóvenes de 11 a 18 años que son adictivos. Tienen un hogar con siete niños y otro hogar con 12 niñas. También trabajan con niños de la comunidad. Tienen programas por la mañana y por la tarde para proporcionar a los niños diferentes formas de ayuda.
Por la mañana estamos pintando un mural en el hogar de los niños y también trabajando con el personal para proporcionar la ayuda necesaria para ayudar a los niños en diferentes áreas. Por la tarde almorzamos en casa de los niños o niñas y pasamos el resto del día con ellos. Podemos dirigir sesiones pequeñas con ellos y también practicar deportes con ellos.
Al conocer a los niños y niñas de la Misión Adulam, uno no pensaría que están en una casa de rehabilitación. Mirando a su alrededor, todo lo que ve son caras sonrientes y amistosas que están ansiosas por conocerlo. Te reciben con los brazos abiertos y te llaman para que te sientes junto a ellos.
Les hablas y parece que son niños normales hasta que ves el miedo en sus brazos. Los pasos en la pared para salir de las adicciones y sus sesiones de terapia.
Chicos y chicas me han robado el corazón con esta camiseta al momento de conocerlos y ya sé que decir adiós no será fácil.
