Hey beautiful people! I’m currently in Tbilisi, Georgia but I want to tell you a few more things regarding my time in Cyprus back in November.
During our time we primarily worked with the Nicosia Mercy Center to serve meals to asylum seekers and refugees. We served every Wednesday night and Friday mornings and were able to express Gods love to the people who came by serving them warm meals, hot drinks & giving them warm clothing. We also were given the opportunity to share the gospel with them if they asked about faith. I really felt like I was thriving here, I absolutely love hospitality and being able to serve meals, hot drinks and getting to know people’s stories and assure them that their stories are valued and are worth hearing was really something special. It makes my heart so happy serving others, giving hugs to the regulars that would come in and simply just listening to what they want to share. I absolutely loved working with the volunteers that served there, they felt like family away from home for me. Every night after serving the refugees we would gather around the table and have a big meal. If you guys at Mercy Center are reading this, I miss you all and would love to be back serving with you guys!
When we weren’t serving at the Mercy Center, we worked with two organisations that specialized in working with and rehabilitating victims of human trafficking. First organisation was under the Wellspring umbrella (anti trafficking organisation) where survivors of human trafficking came to this center to be poured into and encouraged. The other ministry/NGO is called Free a Victim and the center is called Room of Hope. I loved being able to get to know these women and play with their gorgeous little kids. In one of my previous blog posts I wrote about the Beauty for Ashes retreat we put on for these women. Click this link below to see what we did: https://nikidean.theworldrace.org/post/sex-traffic-victims-in-cyprus-whats-my-worth-beauty-for-ashes
The second organisation we worked with was A-Team Nicosia, which is linked with A21, Christine Caine’s anti-trafficking organisation. Both of these organisations we got to create jewelry and paint mugs with the women as part of a fundraiser to support their organisation and to give some income to the women attending their program. We got to remind these women how loved and cherished they are.
I really enjoyed my time in Cyprus, I learnt a lot about human trafficking and the refugee crisis, I met so many amazing people, got to be part of so many organisations. The people in Cyprus will forever hold a piece in my heart. I’m feeling very blessed that God let me be part of it.
Sending lots of love and hugs your way!
Prayer requests:
Please pray that I would be fully funded! I’m currently sitting on $14,750 USD and I need a total of $18,700 USD. The deadline to be fully funded was November 30th 2018, but they have given grace and am letting me continue to fundraise. I’d still love to be fully funded as soon as possible. God is teaching me to trust in Him and that His timing is always perfect.
If you feel led to donate you can do so by clicking the donate button on my blog.
