Why the World Race?
- I LOVE Jesus

- I LOVE travelling & going on adventures
When I tell people that I’m quitting my full time job to go on a 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries around the world with only my backpack & a tent. . . they either think I’m very brave or probably a little bit crazy.
If I stay where I am at now, I will have security, stability and very few worries. The easy thing for me to do would be to stay and continue to follow the crowd. I know in order for me to grow in the areas that I need growth in . . . I need to step out of my comfort zone and say YES to what God has called me to do.
I’m confident that I was not called to live a typical life with a 9-5 job, along with everything else that society says you ‘need’ in order to be a happy. Those were not the things that were going to fulfil my life or the call God has put on it. I’ve had a huge desire in my heart for international missions, to help the poor, care for the sick, to love all people no matter their circumstance.
God says the two greatest commandments are to love God and love each other as ourselves. God says to serve the sick, the needy, and the poor. That’s what Jesus did and that’s what He told us to do as well.
God has already told us in scripture that we are supposed to go and make disciples of all nations. Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV) 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
I can’t wait to serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities, loving and playing with children in orphanages, teaching English in schools, working with refugees, doing construction work or even bringing food or water to villages. Whatever the need is, I want to fill it.
I want to see what God can do in my life and through my life if I give Him my undivided attention. The decision to go on The World Race matched my desire to get to know God on a whole new level, to dive into life with Him more fully and fulfil my purpose to know God and to make him known.
So I say. .
Use me, God.
Show me how to take who I am,
Who I want to be,
And what I can do,
And use it for a purpose
Greater than myself.
My first deadline is coming up and I need $7,173 NZD by May 18th 2018.
