Since I’ve been getting quite a few questions recently, I decided to write this blog focusing on bring you up-to-date on some recent changes. The blog will be in the form of Q&A. If after you finishing reading and you still have questions or concerns, write a comment below and I’ll be sure to get in touch with you.

By this point you probably know that I’m going on the World Race (even if you don’t understand what it is or why I’m going). My journey started nearly 4 months ago to the day when I was accepted as a racer in The World Race (no, it is not the Amazing Race that’s shown on TV).

UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE

  • I changed to route 4:
    • Chile (August 2018), Peru (September 2018), Columbia (October 2018)
    • Rwanda (November 2018), Uganda (December 2018), Kenya (January 2019)
    • Cambodia (February 2019), Thailand (March 2019), Malaysia (April 2019)
    • Haiti (May 2019) and Dominican Republic (June 2019)
    • THEN I’ll be back in the US in July 2019
  • I’m $570 from being HALFWAY funded!!
  • As of today, I have only 4 months until I launch and travel to my first country, CHILE.
  • We have an unofficial launch date!! My family and I will travel to Atlanta, GA on August 3rd or 4th for a couple more days of training and worship before I leave.
  • I have the best community ever. I’ve been overwhelmed with the support and encouragement I’ve received these last few months.

Confused about…. what the World Race is? why I’ve decided to take a year off school? what I’ll be doing? what countries I’m going to? & so on… I’m going to answer some questions that I’ve been asked recently.

  • What is the World Race?
    • An 11 country, 11-month mission trip to challenge young adults to abandon traditional lifestyles, comforts, and worldly possessions in exchange for a life devoted to sharing the love of Jesus, serving others, and bringing the hope of the gospel to some of the darkest parts of the world.
  • What about college? What am I majoring in? Will I go back and finish? What do you want to do after college? Why didn’t you wait until next year once you’ve graduated?
    • I’m NOT dropping out of college, I’m just taking a year off to live life as a missionary, and seek Jesus for clarity and direction for my life. Of course I plan to go back to college, which will be fall semester 2019 after my return from the World Race. I am majoring in Communication Studies.
    • I want to do something in ministry but I’m not sure what that means specifically at this moment. My main focus right now is to use this next year to pursue the Lord for direction. I would love to do anything from outreach, church planting, intercity ministry, or really anything involving loving, serving, and spreading the gospel to people; I’m trying to keep an open mind. I’d absolutely love to move to the Pacific Northwest to do so. We shall see, but now you know about as much as I do.
  • How much do I have to raise? How much have I raised?
    • I have to raise a total of $18,100. Up to this point I’ve raised $8,480 so $570 from halfway and $1,520 until my second deadline of $10,000.
    • This covers my living for 11 whole months! This includes food, lodging, air, land, and sea travel, and a travel medical insurance plan. It also covers administrative, set up, coaching, debrief, training costs prior to and at the start of my Race, and Project Spotlight at the conclusion of the Race.
  • How can you help?
    • Prayerfully – As you can probably imagine, this is a huge challenge for myself. I would greatly appreciate your prayers!
      • Some specific prayer requests right now would be for funds, boldness to do things that aren’t particularly easy or comfortable, spiritual discipline, continued trust and dependance, and for my heart to be prepared for these upcoming 11 months.
    • Financially – It comes at little surprise that the amount can be a bit intimidating but it is completely doable. Fundraising creates a platform of faith-building as you trust the Lord provides to what he calls you to and see his faithfulness throughout the process.
      • You can give above by clicking the donate button or just click here. No amount is too small and every bit plays a role in making this possible. I appreciate any willingness to give, and it means the absolute world to me (pun intended).
      • If you would rather not donate on here but would still like to help, there are a few other ways you can do that. Just message me 🙂
  • How can you communicate with me while I’m on my trip? Will I have my phone?
    • This blog will my primary form of communication while on the Race. Here you will find stories, pictures, and updates over the course of the trip. You can go ahead and subscribe to receive emails when I post by clicking “subscribe for updates” or “follow me!” above or by clicking here, then enter your email.
    • Another way to contact me is via email. I created a new email for the race so that I can quickly respond. Soon I’ll be creating an email list for people who wish to receive private updates on my trip – you can be added by emailing [email protected] or my other one at [email protected].
    • Right now the blog serves as a fundraising tool and allows me to share my heart and updates on the preparation stages of the trip. I invite you to tag along, it’s going to be an exciting, challenging, and joyful journey that you won’t want to miss.
    • I will be taking my phone but it will only be used during months where we can find wifi otherwise only for pictures. So it’s best if you email or message me here!

If you made it all the way to the bottom, thank you! If you have any more questions feel free to comment below or email me, I would be more than happy to talk with you.

EEEEEEEEK only 4 months left until launch!!!!! LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH! Thank you to everyone who has already began praying for me and given up to this point!
