TAKE ME WHERE LOVE IS NEEDED
I might be slightly bias since I designed it but this shirt is pretty rad, but the message behind the shirt is 100x better than the design.
I want to share with you my thoughts behind the T-shirt I’m selling to help raise support for my journey. (Info on how to purchase a shirt at the end)
When brainstorming ideas and working on a design for a T-shirt, nothing seemed to be quite right. After sending in many ideas and receiving proofs, I simply just wasn’t happy with them. No matter what, I kept circling back to the word ‘love’ and how much the world needs to be shown Christ’s love. My final design is my prayer and my mission. It has been my prayer for the Lord to lead me where he wants me to bring his gospel, and now is my mission for my World Race journey. This blog will show you more in depth why I chose the design I did.
We live in a world so corrupted by evil, y’all.
So corrupt, so evil, but so desperately in need of love.
In a world hungry…starving…aching…thirsting for something to fill that desire, blinded by what the world tells us will quench that thirst, subside that hunger, and cure that ache, only to fall short, because the only thing capable of filling that void is the love of JESUS…
My prayer is to live my life striving to bring more love, light, and joy to such dark places around me and around the world. I want to strive to love others better.
I can’t help but to want to love other because of God’s love for me.
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” John 15:12
God showed us the greatest love by being rich in mercy (Eph. 2:4), while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8) he sent his only son to die for our sins giving us the free gift of eternal life to whoever believes in him because he “so loved the world” (John 3:16), because he so loved YOU and ME.
And we’re only capable of loving others because he first loved us (1 John 4:19).
Before we can love one another we must know what God tells us love is and how we should love…
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 tells us
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
In a world telling us violence and hatred are acceptable, let’s show them the power of love.
In the words of The Black Eyed Peas, “Where is the love?”
“Whatever happened to the values of humanity?
Whatever happened to the fairness and equality?
Instead of spreadin’ love we spreadin’ animosity
Lack of understandin’ leading us away from unity
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ under
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ down
It’s no wonder why sometimes I’m feelin’ under
Gotta keep my faith alive ’til love is found”
This world is filled with so much dishonor, hatred, violence, and complexity. Every outlet of media is constantly showing us stories upon stories of just how sinful our world is. It often seems so easy to get lost in feelings of helplessness and hopelessness.
This type of hurt has become all too common.
Jesus offers hope!!!!
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
I wear this as a daily reminder that no matter how corrupt the world is or how tough things may seem at times, my God is GREATER and has already conquered the world.
What if we all started pushing back hatred and evil, replacing it with love? What if we all did our part in showing love to the people around us?
Instead of fueling the fire, we extinguished it with kindness, compassion, and friendship.
Let’s love by caring for one another.
Let’s love by helping people in need.
Let’s love by forgiving those who have wronged us.
Love comes on all shapes and sizes.
The need is all around us. It might look a little different but love is needed in one way, shape, or form.
Love could look like…
- sharing a smile with a stranger.
- showing patience in line at the grocery store.
- avoiding getting angry when a car cuts you off.
- asking your mom, dad, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, cousin, grandpa, grandma, friend, neighbor, mailman, (ok you get the point) how their day has been.
- admitting when you’re wrong.
- paying for the coffee of person behind you in line at Starbucks.
- extending a listening ear to a co-worker or classmate.
- cooking a meal for someone in need.
- taking time to play with a child.
- picking up trash on the side of the road.
- pausing what you’re doing just to make someone feel important.
- putting a few coins in an expired parking meter.
- choosing to listen to someone with a different opinion from yours rather than arguing.
- praying for others.
- saying “thank you” to the cashier.
- forgiving a friend.
- donating clothes, canned food, or time to a homeless shelter.
This list could go on… BUT my point is that the need for love surrounds us, and my prayer is that God will lead each of us where he wants us to share love. That could be inside the walls of our own homes, next door with our neighbor, in our classroom or workplace, at the grocery store, or even across the world.
So let’s join in prayer that we all have the power and strength to live out what the T-shirt says, “Take me where love is needed,” and be faithful to where we’re led by practicing and sharing love with the people we encounter.
After months of prayer on where I should spend my summer and what I should do with my life, I felt called to become a racer in the World Race. The World Race is an 11-month journey traveling to 11 different countries bringing the good news to “the least of these.” I felt lead to pack what I could fit of my ‘normal’ life in a backpack and leave the rest behind for 11-months, to bring the love God shows me and share it with unreached people all over the world. So many things could have swayed my decision but God called and I’m saying “yes.” In August, I’ll leave on this journey but I need your support to get me there. This is our journey!
