God is awesome.
I was reading about Jesus in the gospel of John. His first sign in John is when he turns water into wine. I have read the story before and have heard about it but I didn’t understand the significance.
So I asked Holy Spirit to explain this miracle. I felt he answered me by having me look up the word wine. I started studying the story and wine in the Bible. I found a book that mentioned how often wine in the Bible symbolizes joy. I read that running out of wine at a wedding would be embarrassing for the hosts. I realized that Jesus asked the servants to participate in the miracle. I learned that the disciples grew in faith through seeing Jesus’ glory.
I learned a lot about the story and Jesus. And I encourage you to read it and study it.
But that’s not what’s awesome.
It was later that night, alone in my room when Jesus spoke to me more about wine through more reading and devotions. He seemed to be saying that Jesus wants me to enjoy him. I don’t need other things, people or wants..I just need Him. He wants me to drop my own expectations and enjoy His presence. Enjoy this moment and where I am in my walk with Him. Stop trying to discern and understand everything but enjoy the joy aka wine He offers.
His sweet wine will be better than anything else the world can offer.
Jesus wants to satisfy your deepest desires…most likely it will not be how you expect but it will be so much better.
