Wake Up Men and Women of Faith

Over the course of the last few months one thing that has been coming up frequently to my attention is the need for us to wake up and take action.

We live in a day and age where being seen as a Christian is a status that holds disgust in a lot of non-believers. They see the church as a courtroom where one is persecuted for not agreeing or questioning ideals. They see us as hypocrites that preach one thing but our daily walk show that we believe something totally different.

Today I read an article saying that GQ put the Bible in a list of books that once seem important as now very unimportant. And it just shocked me to my core. This book the very core to us understanding God and His will for our lives is unnecessary to read and unimportant. That scares me. It said to instead read “The Notebook” to learn how to live in harmony. No offense to Nicholas Sparks, but “The Notebook” and the Bible are not even in the same ballpark of importance.

Now I am not saying that we aren’t suppose to stand up for our beliefs, but let’s remember how God won the most people over. It wasn’t harsh tones and slander, but love and understanding that attracted people to Him. His daily walk and miracles attracted people to Him. Now we may not be performing miracles like raising those from the dead, but how about the miracle of showing love to our enemies and kindness to those that wish to do us harm.

If our actions mirror our words then the world will see Jesus through us. This has been a huge conviction in my own life. I know that I don’t do as well as I should. I want to fit in and be accepted just as much as the next person, but sometimes God calls us to be uncomfortable and who are we to question His calling? Jesus gave us His life by dying on the cross and rising three days later for a crime that He didn’t commit. No it was us that committed the crime. He gave His life so how come we see it so hard to live a life that is obedient to His Word?

In closing I leave you with one of my favorite lines in the movie “the War Room”
