Mallory Gene. This woman has a heart of gold…quite possibly literally.

One of the sweetest things (I think) about Mal is her incredible ability to meet people where they’re at. Mal loves unconditionally through the tough times. She gives grace when it is needed and she sits in the pain, the hurt or the joy. When words are needed, Mal has them. When they’re not needed, she knows and she stays quiet and has simply sat with me and rubbed my back silently. Recently, Mal will come wander into our room on the other end of the apartment, and lay down next to me on the bed and just start talking, telling me about her day, what she thinks of a scripture or ask me how I am–it makes me smile every time!

She is kind. Mal is always one of the first to ask how something went, how you’re doing or just to let you know she’s praying for you.

She is wise! Boy, oh, boy. One of the things we all immediately saw in her our first month together was wisdom. She walks with wisdom and loves through the lens of her knowledge of Christ.

I’ve learned over the last few months that Mal and I have (at least) one big thing in common…we’re introverts. We are the type of people who don’t mind living alone, we like having our own space and although we aren’t bad at community living, we both long for the time in the future where we can have our own space. THIS IS NOT A BAD THING! It doesn’t mean we don’t like people…it just means that we value the time we have when we’re alone and get to just be with God. But although she looks forward to this, she lives in community so well. She loves everyone and her patience is incredible.

Mallory loves kids! She is almost always one of the first to volunteer for any kids ministry opportunity and seeing her interact with them is inspiring and fun!

Oh, and Mal has some absolutely BEAUTIFUL, BIG, BLUE eyes! She’s cute, she’s funny, she’s kind.

Love you, Mallory Gene!
