This week has been absolutely beyond anything I’ve ever imagined it would be. After we arrived in Colombia, we took a bus to a host for the night and were given actual mattresses, which I wasn’t expecting! We woke up in the morning and saw a view of part of the city of Medellín and couldn’t even fully process that we were here. We had arrived in the country of Colombia, a country the Lord has put on my heart for years…and I was finally here. Despite having traveled all over the world and this being my 25th country to visit, it felt like it was one of the 1st. This was one of the 1st countries that I have obeyed the call the Lord put on my life to be a witness to the nations. I believe this is the beginning of a journey the Lord will take me on to spread the Gospel and be a light in a dark place.
We left the host that first morning in Medellín and headed to our host for the month, Pastor William. The overwhelming kindness that exuded from this family was undeniable and contagious. Over the past 3 days the Lord has allowed us to be here, I have seen the Lord work, I have seen people who love the Father with their entire being, I have experienced local transportation in the city that was nominated the most advanced public transportation in the world, I have grown in service, and I’ve been stretched beyond what I thought possible in just 3 days in. God has given me opportunities to translate for my team and our hosts. I have translated from Spanish to English and English to Spanish and been SO incredibly uncomfortable doing it but I know the Lord is telling me this is part of what He has for me this year.
I completely believe that the Lord has prepared me for this moment, these moments, through all of my past traveling and by allowing me to live in Spain and learn the beautiful language of Spanish. I have been able to help bridge the barrier between a different language and culture, grow in my relationship with my teammates and the other team we are serving with as well as with our hosts, especially mi mama aquí, Cristina. I can’t wait to tell y’all all about our hosts and their passion for the Lord!
Keep your eyes open for my next blog…WiFi is few and far between here so it’s been a little tough to come by and to communicate. Thank you for your patience and love as you go on this journey with me!
