To the abused,
You’ve been walking in shame. Shame for what was done to you. Shame in how you can’t even look at your own reflection, for fear you might see what the voices say. That shame has stripped you of your own humanity–your worth. It has locked you in a box. It has smothered you so much, you can’t even breathe.
God wants to lift you out of that box and int the fresh, open air. He sees you for who you really are: cherished, beloved, shameless, blameless.
It wasn’t your fault. It wasn’t your fault. It wasn’t your fault.
You are free of any shame, any blame those voices have wrongfully placed upon you.
You are so strong to have come so far. So strong to have chosen to live another day. So brave.
God has witnessed your every struggle, seen your every fight. He has heard your every cry, and caught every tear.
He will not leave your side.
He wants to give you rest. He wants to take you through the battle to the other side.
You survived.
You have worth. You didn’t deserve what happened.
There are far better things in store for you.
You have hope.
You have a future.
You have love.
You have eternity waiting.
Signed,
Someone who’s been there
