Annnndddddd just like that my time in Romania has already come to an end. You know what that means?? Yup, time for a wrap up blog! Oh how I am going to miss this place. I am so bummed that I didn’t post more about my time here because it has truly been unforgettable. I hope I don’t know if I did it justice but I hope you get a good peek into what May looked like for me. So let’s just dive right in, here is a quick summary of one of my favorite months!

What city did you stay in? What was your living situation?

  • This month the main city I stayed in was Draganesti-OLT but I moved around a lot this month and also spent several of nights in Craiova and a couple in Alba. We lived mostly in bunk rooms that were extremely comfortable! (WAHOO)

What was your ministry for this month?

  • This month my team partnered with another team called Vibe Tribe. Ministry however was broken up throughout the month. For most of the team they were out evangelizing and preparing for events that would happen for PVT. PVT (Parent Vision Trip) where some of our parents got to come visit and be a part of the World Race for a week. This included serving in a kids ministry, a social event for young adults and an eyeglasses ministry.
  • For me and my squamate Ashley most of our month looked very different. I was the personal assistant to our host Raul and his assistant Cristina. This included responding to emails, communication with other missionaries, traveling to different villages, helping plan PVT, and many other things. It was an absolute blast. Getting to use my administration skills to serve Hope Church and see the behind the scenes of a missionaries life made this month unlike any other.

What language do most people speak?

  • Romanian. But I was around a lot of translators so that was extremely helpful.

What foods did you try? What was your favorite?

  • My favorite food this month was when I went to visit a missionary family to celebrate birthdays and they made lamb. It was by far the best lamb I have ever tasted!!

What was the hardest thing about this month?

  • The hardest thing this month…saying goodbye. Raul and his family welcomed me and Ashley in as if we were their daughters. Cristina is also an amazing woman who is so easy to get along with. It felt like we had known each other much longer than just a couple of weeks. I have learned to be thankful for hard goodbyes because that means strong relationships were built and the month was lived to the fullest.

What was the best thing about this month?

  • I got to hug my dad!! God knew exactly what He was doing when He scheduled PVT to be during month 8. The fact that I got to see my dad and he got to see life in Romania and meet some of my favorite people on the Race so far was no coincidence. Raul reminded me a lot of my dad throughout the whole month so it was extra cool that they got to meet. I absolutely loved having my dad with me out on the field! It was a week that I will never forget.

What was unexpected this month?

  • I was not expecting to love Romania as much as I do now. I know I said the same thing about Albania. I mentioned how I would just skip over the European countries in my mind when thinking about the World Race. I am sure God got a chuckle out of that because of what He had in store for me here. I love it when He exceeds all expectations!

Where did you see Jesus the most?

  • I saw Jesus in Raul and his wife Ana. I learned so much by watching how he lives his life sold out for the Lord and seeking only to bring glory to Him. Raul challenged me and pushed me in my relationship with God and at the same time encouraged me. Ana has such a servant heart and loves her family and all of the people around her so selflessly. Both Raul and Ana are living out the word of God so well it was incredible to get to be a part of it even if it was just for a month.

Needless to say this month has been AMAZING! I am beyond thankful for all the people I have met here in Romania and will miss each an everyone of them. Raul is always looking for short or long term mission trips to come visit so if you are at all interested I 100% recommend going!

And now it is time for AFRICA!! If you know me at all then you know I am PUMPED! It’s hard to believe it is already time to go to Africa cause that means there is only 3 months left until I am home!! I can’t to tell y’all all about it so stay tuned.

With lots of love,

Martha Kuhn

Prayer Warriors:

  1. We are going to AFRICA! With that please pray for safe travels and a smooth adjustment as we enter into a very different culture and all that entailed with that.
  2. Please pray that the squad would stay present here. It is easy as the end starts to creep up to start thinking about what we are going to do once we get home but we do not want to be so distracted that we miss out on the last three months and all God has for us
