This month I have heard some extremely hard life stories. This one in particular broke me. But our God never leaves us. I am in awe of His faithfulness.

Daniel was found at the innocent age of 3 years old laying in the blood of his dead mom and aunts. His father had murdered his whole family in front of him and then left him to fend for himself. When the authorities came they found one of his aunts had actually survived the attack and immediately transported her to the hospital. After her recovery, Daniel was able to go and live with his aunt for a short period of time. However, a couple years later, there was an accident as she was selling newspapers on the street and she was hit by a truck and passed away. It was at this point that Daniel was placed in a government orphanage and got involved in a gang. His heart was hardened and became violent.

When Daniel was about 16, a judge asked Bob to come and interview Daniel to bring him into the family. The judge warned Bob that Daniel was a rough kid and had a lot going on. As Bob walked into the room he was skeptical and unsure if he was going to be able to bring this kid home because he had the safety of all the other children at Mi Casa to think about. However, as Daniel walked in the room The Holy Spirit shined all around him so brightly that Bob could not deny that he was supposed to come home to Mi Casa.

The transition was a difficult one to say the least. Daniel had put up so many walls around him in order to survive that he didn’t know how to receive pure love. But the man I have gotten to know this month is nowhere near the same boy that came to Mi Casa 2 short years ago. As traumatic and painful as this story is we serve an indescribable God who is our ultimate healer and protector. Because of His faithfulness and love Daniel is a whole new person.

Daniel is a gentleman who cares deeply about those around him. Although Daniel speaks little to no English it does not stop him from interacting with me and my team. He is extremely intentional in saying hello to each one of us every time we see him. He loves to joke around and tease us but if there is even the slightest possibility that one of us has been hurt or is unhappy he is quick to apologize repeatedly and make sure that we were okay.

I don’t want to think about who Daniel would be if Mi Casa had not found him, it honestly terrifies me. The growth he has overcome in just two years is incredible. His life has taken a 180 turn for the better! Although he still has walls up from his past and his journey is not over, he is surrounded by people who love him and accept him for who he is now. People who are here to help him no matter what. Thankfully, he now belongs to a family and has a safe place to call home. In addition, he is receiving a quality education that will take him farther than I think he ever allowed himself to dream.

Please pray and consider supporting Daniel. Click here to help him continue to have the opportunity to grow into the man God has created him to be.

Gods hand is clearly in each one of these kids’ lives and is calling them to something greater. You can be a part of making this happen. If you would like to support Mi Casa as a whole you can Click here!

Thank you for all your support and sticking in it with me even when the stories and life gets hard. The life we are called to live in Christ is simple but it is definitely not easy.

I love each of you!
