One of the biggest mistakes we can make is choosing not to have a relationship with Christ because of our past or because we do not see ourselves worthy of His love.

Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

This has been one of the hardest things I have yet to comprehend. That, indeed, we have a heavenly Father who is in constant pursuit of us even when we are not in pursuit of Him. He loved us before we were even born. Before we took our first breath, He already was in love with us. The creator of the universe and the God of perfect love wants to have a relationship with us. How crazy to wrap our minds around!!

It is important to remember that He still wants every single one of us. No matter where we’ve been or where we are God wants to be a part of your life, He wants to be the center of it all. He knows what we need and even when we may not feel like God is with us, He is always right by our side.

I have grown up in church all my life. I’ve been involved in multiple ministries and love to serve. My relationship with God I have always treasured. Earlier this year I was in deep depression. I had no motivation for anything. My grades were dropping, I pushed away those who tried to help me, I let the world have me, and I put my focus in everything but God. It was common for me to have suicidal thoughts. I was in a very dark place. Somewhere I do not wish upon anyone. I lost relationships and loved the wrong things. I was embarrassed to talk to anyone about what was going on. I was hurting, broken, and so very lost. I wish I could say following God was easy. It’s not always easy, but life is better. In this time, I was feeling unwanted. Unsure about who I was or what God had for me. After a couple months I slowly started to let people back into my life. God showed me what true love looked like. A love that is greater than anything I could ever imagine. An unconditional love that never fails. I came to God broken and He picked me up, held me tight, and told me that He forgives me and loves me all the same.

For those of you still running like I was, still chasing after the temporary things the world has to offer. Please, stop for a moment. Reflect on your life and in the direction, you are going. I am going to be straight up and say that sin can be enjoyable. The enemy purposefully tempts us with our weaknesses. We were all born sinners, but all have a choice. The choice to accept Christ into our lives or choose a life of unfulfilling things of this world. I encourage every person who reads this to choose the joy of the Lord over the happiness of the world. Why settle for less when God has so much more in store for our lives?

Come as you are!!! Your past does not define you, nor do your mistakes. Don’t be afraid of what others think of you! I promise you will never be alone, with God by your side. He loves you so much! You never know where He might take you.

Thank you for taking the time to read what the Lord has placed on my heart.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
