Every morning I wake up between six or seven. Our front door neighbors somtimes start working at their restaurant a bit earlier than that though.

We don’t have beds in our house. So, I sleep on my sleeping pad, which is like a really thin air mattress. The green thing is my mosquito net, to keep the bugs away while I sleep.

Some mornings I cook myself a breakfast of eggs and rice in our kitchen; a hot plate, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a pile or assorted dishes. Other mornings I go to the school and buy something Thai from the vendors there.

If I have a class first period, I’ll be at school to watch their morning assembly. They all pay tribute to the King, talk in a lot of Thai that I don’t understand, and hand out these leaves for good behavior or grades…. I’m not really sure. Again it is all in Thai.

This is the school I work at. The white building is where I teach middle schoolers, and I love it so much! They are all really great kids, and some of then know English pretty well.

This day we were teaching description vocabulary and how to put that into a sentence. Because the kids are older a lot of their English learning is grammar based, and it is really fun to teach something a little more advanced.

I usually have my quiet time sometime during the school day in the library, the teachers lounge, or by the pond. We don’t teach all day, and so we have a lot of free time during that time.

Eventually we will eat lunch. I forgot to take a picture at the beginning of lunch, and I had eaten most of it at this point. This day we had eggs, a noodle and vegetable mixture, soup, and hot dogs.

We have at least one class in the afternoon. For this one we taught answering questions and when to use eats vs eat and etc.

Sometimes we spend our free time here in ththe teacher’s lounge talking and hanging out. After school people work out, ride bikes around, talk to the kids after school. They is not a whole lot to do in our town, but we find ways to keep busy and entertained.

Then we eat dinner, and we either get take out from Fu, a man who owns a little restaurant in front of our house, or we cook something on our own. We don’t have a lot of options so I’ve been eating a lot of fried rice and pad thai. There are also a couple little snack shops around. So, we can get ice cream, chips, candy, and drinks.

Finally, we have team time! We sit and talk about or write about different things each day. After that a lot of wind down for bed time by 9:00.

It has been really strange living in Thailand, but I really love the culture here. I’m bless to be able to experience everything here with my team!
