I remember receiving my first college letter in the mail. It was like someone had punched me in the gut… when I could see the fist coming for years. High school is great and all, but college, well that’s your future. I’d bounced around ideas: animator, art therapist, nurse, etc. It all felt so strange and alien, which I’m sure is a common feeling.

However, something always kept bringing me back to my childhood wish of being a missionary. I’d hear stories in Sunday school or meet visiting missionaries, and I had been really drawn to it. When I was thirteen I started to volunteer at a local Christian summer camp for children. I washed dishes, swept floors, and cleaned toilets, and eventually I became a counselor. It was the most spiritually fulfilling time of my life. Weeks were devoted to God, working with kids and seeing them grow, actually sitting down and teaching them about a God who loves them. Plus I got to teach them archery, ropes courses, and much more, and that was pretty cool too.

Somewhere along the line I had decided I wanted to be a full time missionary, but with college fast approaching that seemed less and less realistic. Doubts and uncertainty clouded my decisions. Finally, God revealed path to me that I never would have dreamed of.

And now I’m here, embarking on a huge, and at times overwhelming, journey in which I know God will grow me and help me serve others. There’s a lot to do to get ready for this, and I can’t do it without the support of others. This includes spiritual and financial. I hope to regularly inform everyone via this blog of any specific prayer requests. I would also very much appreciate any financial gifts God is placing on your heart to give.
