OH YES!.. Where talking about seasons. As cliche as it might be, its on my heart, so lets get into it!
Okay, as the title says ‘everything living has a season’, this is true for everything that has ‘life’, weather it be a tree, an animal, a wild flower, or a human being, (catch it) everything that produces life has a season.
Lets just double check with the word of the Lord.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
lets look at what some of theses seasons are, and whats happening. Although some of these can be applied to plants and animals, we are going to stick to human beings for audience purposes. ( although id like to imagine teenage groot reading this lol)
1. season of death: (wait doesn’t that come at the end?) nope, here’s why, sometimes in life if things don’t die, then other things cannot grow, (catch it) and produce life in its place. before we can be molded into Christlike being we have to die daily, constantly killing parts of our old flesh character so that we can take on Christ nature and character. [if you think anything in this last paragraph mean bodily harm, your very wrong please email me and we’ll talk about it].
2. season of ground work: oh this season, this season. I remember become saved (like for real) for the first time, i was so excited about the Lord and everything that this new life had to offer. I read my bible everyday, i prayed, crazy things happened. All of that is cultivating the grounds. As i went deeper with the Lord more of me died and more cultivating of the ground of my life was happening. In a Forrest when a tree dies, a mushroom forms from the dead roots. The rotting and braking down of the old tree cultivated the ground enough to produce life.
[I know I said I wasn’t going to talk about plants but in 1 Corinthians 3:9 the Lord talks about us being his garden, so it works.]
3. season of waiting: Oh here’s the tough one, my least favorite, I think most people feel that way. Although waiting SUCKS.. its SOOO important. During the waiting you don’t get to see whats happening but you know there’s something better coming after. We don’t get to see all the places the Lords hand move before we have our testimony but it is moving. During the waiting, roots are growing in the ground, and things are being made in the unseen.
4. season of being and producing: THIS IS WHAT WE’VE BEEN “WAITING” FOR!! we start to see the fruits of our labor, we are seeing things bloom, promises are coming to fruition. I mean this is the greatest feeling ever! Thank you Lord for this season. But, guess what this season too shall pass. (how do you know?) because everywhere in the bible we see that the Lord values and takes pride in ‘New’ things.
5. season of newness: This season is whatever the Lord has destined for your life. More often then not, this is the point where the Cycle starts again. something is dying, or something is being uprooted and changed. Don’t panic! the Lord is doing a new thing and one thing I’ve come to know about my God is the new, although sometimes hard at first, is always worth it. Trust that the Lord is always working things for out our good!
The reason i brought up seasons is because for some reason 4 months ago i became obsessed with houses, apartments, and family photos. there nothing wrong with those things, but you guys, I am a single girl called to be a missionary over seas. Even though i think me and small fridge cactus named Bennie would love to be in a pinterest worthy one bedroom with exposed brick and a view, I know in my heart this is not what the Lord has for me at this moment. So I don’t dismiss these thoughts, i remind myself they are for a different season.
(wait! Maggie why did you keep mentioning something about producing life, i’m confused)
okay so here’s where i get a little deeper, so step in a bit, closer were friends now.
Everything in life that produces life has a season.
lets think BIG.. like… GOD BIG. God created us in a season. God wanted to create and cultivate something, but in a season He wanted something more, He made us. (don’t overthink the timing, Gods time and our time is different.)
Lets think small.. a butterfly garden. you fertilize the ground, plant some seeds, water, wait, pull weeds, finally get caterpillars, wait, they eat, they cocoon, wait, BOOM! butterfly!
OKAY, come even closer.
Lets think OPPOSITE.. (sort of side ways too)
Things that do not have seasons, do not produce life. Things that are dead, (in the Sense of never being alive) do not produce life.
lets look at a Rock, i mead like a really big rock. it i put it in a cage, its not touched or rained on, its just there, when i come back in 4 years i’m going to say look guys there is a large rock. i most likely wont say look there’s flowers on my rock. the rock not changing or going through seasons is not an environment that can support new life.
psst. nobody wants to be a rock, don’t be that solid.. hahaha (worst pun ever!)
All that to say, as we walk through our season, be encouraged that all things that the Lord has us walk through is cultivating our hearts, minds, and lives to support new life, new light, and new fruit.
Thanks for reading! I value you. God bless you!
