These little houses are everywhere here. You see them at every corner, at almost every home, and at just about every place of business.

What are they? They are “spirit houses.” They are very much a part of Buddhist culture, and they are places where Buddhists can come and pay homage to their gods. They often leave gifts here such as food or money.

One thing we were challenged to do when we arrived here was to pray each time we passed by one (which means basically being in constant prayer if you step outside of the hostel). We were challenged to pray for freedom and for God to reveal Himself to the people who come to worship and leave gifts at these little temples.
As I’ve prayed each day as I passed these spirit houses, I began to realize that I was praying for God to create a restlessness in the hearts of the people that came to them – that they would be restless from having to serve gods they have to feed and be restless for THE God that feeds His children with His words alone.
I think sometimes The Holy Spirit prays words in our spirit we don’t even know to pray, and from that we are able to be even more in awe of Abba. Our God is full of complete power and complete compassion at the same time. He is THE literal definition of provision and love. He doesn’t need us, yet He wants us. He doesn’t need us to feed Him – not once has He or will He. Yet, we can’t live fully or eternally without His daily bread feeding us, which is Himself, His Word, and His truth (notice the word “bread,” which is for daily consumption – not cake for special occasions).

“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” (John? ?6:35?)

He is also the living water. Let me say that again: He is literally living water.

“Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”” (John? ?4:13-14?)

So, our God is COMPLETE nourishment that we can’t truly have life without!!!

I challenge you to open your heart and let The Holy Spirit pray things through you that humble you and teach you more about The Father. Partake of the daily bread and living water. Spend time thanking and praising God that we don’t have to be restless from trying to feed Him or gain merit to attain good things from Him. Thank and praise Him that He is the epitome of nourishment and grace, who provides without us earning it and doesn’t withhold any good thing from those who walk in His righteousness (Psalm 84:11). Also, please join with me in praying for freedom and for God to create a restlessness for Himself, The One True and Living God, in the hearts of those enslaved to serving false gods (which actually includes ourselves because we also fall into the trap of serving false idols/gods everyday as well (i.e. cell phones, pride, etc.)).

Grateful for all of your prayers and encouragement! They keep me wrapped in constant peace!

Love in Christ,
Maeci
