This time next week we will be in Argentina, well into debrief & already having knowledge of who our new teams are. As a way to reflect & love our teammates, Court {our storyteller} challenged us to write a blog about the teammate sitting to our left. Sweet & sassy Katie was sitting to my left 🙂
Katie is 23, from Fredrick, Maryland & simply loves to laugh. She has served & loved our team well by being treasurer for the past 4 months & she has absolutely killed it! Katie is as humble as she is kind & has a way of saying the hard things, but you don’t receive them that way because she speaks so much truth in love. Katie’s favorite food is spaghetti & don’t be surprised if she asks for cookies & popcorn every night after dinner. She is way better at Spanish than she will let you know & is the best direction-giver/orient-er EVER {something I am hoping to grow in}
As an Enneagram 7, Katie can struggle to sit in or listen to hard emotions {like sadness or anger} – joy or silliness are just easier for her & come quite natural. For any 7, hard situations or emotions literally scream “danger!” One thing I love & admire about Katie is her tenacity & obedience. She is fierce & asks the Lord for hard things; she has actively gone against how she has been raised & what she feels most comfortable in to lean into the Lord & is being healed.
Katie, I am so proud of you. I am so proud of the person you are growing into because I know it is closer to the woman God designed you to be. Thank you for having hard conversations, being gracious when accepting & giving feedback & for being one heck of a good time. I don’t know if we will be on the same team next but I have loved getting to sit in & see all of the sides of who you are. You are smart, beautiful & cherished.
Each ministry we have worked with for the past 4 months have involved kids. Katie instantly connects with these kids & loves them dearly. It has been so fun to watch her connect with & be moved by compassion for them. Each tiny human she interacts with leaves feeling more loved & cared for by her because she loves them so well. I have so many fond memories of eating & laughing {usually combined} with Katie & she makes the best-picture-perfect faces.
I have seen the Lord gift her with prophecy & discernment. Katie has this way of reading situations & people, where she assesses & knows what’s going on without actually being given any information. It’s incredible to see her live this out & make space for God to move in these specific ways.
I am so excited to see what the Lord has for you next – in your life & on the race. 🙂
I love you Katie!!
P.S. We also both have goodr glasses & are trying to get insta-famous by having them use us as their models. Friends who dream together..
