Yesterday was my birthday and so to celebrate that I decided to write a blog about birthdays on the race and mine specifically.
The night of my birthday eve my team surprised me with hot water in the buckets that we shower with and I was able to shower myself with hot water which we have not had since Swaziland. I woke up on the 22nd like I normally do and worked out and went to have my Jesus time in my hammock. When I had finished my podcast that I was listening to for that day I had a note in my shoe that said I would be getting an “hour by hour birthday” so every hour from breakfast till dinner my team surprised me with a little something, that ranged from drinks to letters to my favorite birthday song performed by them. We ate dinner as a team and then had a worship night. After that they took me up to the mountain and we got to sleep in cabin number seven for the night. They placed me in timeout with my headphones in while they decorated the room. Suddenly they pulled out a bag which they had hidden life food in, (the local cafe here which makes american-like food) and they had gotten us ll chicken and waffles. We sat around and ate life food and watched a video they had put together of me with photos and videos of me and then videos of them and my family and friends back home saying happy birthday to me (shoutout to everyone who participated in that, thank you for that, i may have cried once or twice). Then Lil wrote a rap for me and performed it while the rest of the ladies were her back-up dancers. Then we ended the night by eating SO many snacks and watched finding nemo (@nellie for watching that with me almost every birthweekend for years and years). The next morning we woke up early and watched the sunrise on top of the mountain. It was by far one of my most memorable birthdays and one of my favorite.
The Lord has so perfectly placed together my team and I couldn’t ask for better people in my life to spend my day of birth with.
