Back in Thailand I boldly asked God to let me see one person accept Christ as his or her Lord and Savior, as I personally had not seen anyone do so on the Race (although many of my teammates had). I was hoping He would do so in Thailand, but He did not. Myanmar passed by, still nothing. Matthew 7:7-11 says,
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Of if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”
Since I had asked God and I felt like it was in His will, I believed He would do it.
In March, we were in Medellin, Colombia working with Ciudad Refugio. It was one of my favorite ministry partnerships on the Race. It’s almost easier to say the things we didn’t do that month than all the things we did! We helped with kids and youth ministry, homeless ministry, the drug rehab program, internally displaced people (IDP) outreach, Bible studies, women’s outings, donation sorting, etc. It was a very busy and tiring month, but it was easy to see God’s hand in all of the ministries. If you want to learn more about these ministries and Ciudad Refugio go to THIS website or please ask me (I’d love to share more about that month!).
During one of the church services (three were held each week – Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday), one of the pastors asked one of us to preach. I volunteered to share a message on satisfaction found in God. After I finished speaking, the Pastor called up anyone who wanted to accept Christ. To my amazement, 15 men came up to the front of the room! My teammate, Laney, and I then got to pray with them to receive Christ! WOW! God is so good.
Later in the month, my teammates and I helped out at a youth group one night. After the pastor finished speaking, he asked if anyone would like to accept Christ. This time, six teens stood up! My team and I got to pray over these brothers and sisters as they made a declaration to receive Christ. Dang. It was such a powerful night seeing these teens make this decision.
Back in Thailand, I asked God to allow me to see ONE person come to know Him as their Savior. Instead, God allowed me to be a part of and witness TWENTY-ONE people come to Him!! This reminds me of the verse in Ephesians 3:20, which says, “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be the glory….” He did way more than I asked or thought He would. He challenged my faith and allowed me to experience more of Him in the process. To Him be ALL the glory.
Whenever I start a journal, I always write a list of prayers or ways I want to grow in on the first page. And then at the end of the journal I look back and see the ways in which God has answered prayers and how I have grown. This is one of the prayers I can already cross off the list in the front of my journal. And I look forward to seeing how God answers the rest of the prayers I have written in my journal.

It was gorgeous!
