Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.

This is the verse that was put on my key from Keys for the Journey. Keys for the Journey is an organization that was founded by an alumni world racer who prays over each person who orders the key and puts whatever word or verse on the key that God puts on his heart.

I am still praying and seeking the “why” of mine but when I read the full chapter, Psalm 46, I am reminded of soooo many things. No matter what I am going through, what I have done, or what I have not done; God is always there and will fight our battles with us.

This week I started to understand why God had this verse for me. For those of you who know me, know that I like to be in control or lead things. This is something that I have to let go of to let God truly lead me and grow within me. This week has been the hardest of the race so far. God reminded me that He is in control. That my pride and control is something I have to surrender to him.

God knows that I will need his help through this season, he will lead me through the fiercest battles. Therefore I will not be afraid, though I know it will feel like the earth is trembling below me and the mountains are toppling above me, God is within me and I will not be toppled.

A word that God has given me for this season is reconciliation. To forgive and ask for forgiveness, first with myself and then with others. I am praying that God gives me strength, understanding, and grace during this season and that through everything I glorify Him.

Psalms 46

God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble. Therefore we will not be afraid, though the earth trembles and the mountains topple into the depths of the seas, though its water roars and foams and the mountains quake with its turmoil.

There is a river — its streams delight the city of God,the holy dwelling place of the Most High. God is within her; she will not be toppled. God will help her when the morning dawns. Nations rage, kingdoms topple; the earth melts when he lifts his voice. The Lord of Armies is with us; the God of Jacob is our strong hold.

Come, see the words of the Lord, who brings devastation on the earth. He makes wars cease throughout the earth. He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces; he sets wagons ablaze. “Stop your fighting, and know that I am God, exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.” The Lord of Armies is with us, the God of Jacob is our stronghold.
