Hello! My name is Julie Watson and I am still in aw that God has given me the opportunity to go on an adventure such as The World Race. Growing up myself and my family were always involved in the church. My first opportunity to learn and realize that I was called to Mission work was in high school during a summer church camp in New Mexico. After that summer I was given the opportunity to go on a few mission trips throughout high school in Mexico, Jamaica, and Tampa, Florida. Each one unique and so eye opening to the reality that is the world we live in and the constant desire I witnessed from others to learn about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During College I was apart of a Christian Sorority, Sigma Phi Lambda. The sisterhood if found in this sorority with so many other women in Christ was amazing and those friendships I will never forget. During College and since graduating I have really dove into my career as a hospitality professional, and though I enjoy what i do on a daily basis I have always felt like I was meant to do something more. I felt that God wanted me to do something more, something that would make a difference to those around me for more than their weekend vacation at the hotel. During college I heard of The World Race Organization and have always known about it and studied its vision and read the blogs. I became more and more interested over the years and thought of applying for so long but was scared of leaving everything behind, and what it meant leave everything to fully commit myself to serving God through missions. Choosing to apply for the World Race has been one of the best decisions of my life, and the adventure has only begun. When I applied i thought “if I don’t do it i will regret it, I just have to try and if I don’t get accepted then this wasn’t the plan God had for me”. Then the craziest thing happened, I was accepted and so much of the worry and fear I have had regarding my future just faded away. I cannot wait to tell my friends and family of this adventure that I am embarking on and to share this experience with the team I will be placed with on this journey.
