I’m here!!!
I live in Battambang, Cambodia now ….. what ?!?
We’ve been living here and doing ministry now for a little more than a week and it still hasn’t really hit me yet that this is my new home for 3 months. Myself and the 40 other girls on my squad sleep on the floor in a big room on the upstairs level of our home. The sisterhood is so real. We have an amazing roof that overlooks the whole neighborhood and it’s a great space to go to just sit with the presence of the Lord. (in my hammock of course) 🙂 Our nights are filled with constant laughter and lots of mosquito bites from the open windows. I really love our little space and all the people in it.
This month my team got assigned the ministry of cooking. The 8 of us are in charge of coming up with meal ideas, buying the ingredients, and preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner, 5 days a week, for around 60 people. It’s chaos in the best possible way. Every morning our fearless tuk tuk driver Sam picks us up from our house and takes us to the markets to buy our ingredients. We usually make around 5 stops to get different things. My favorite place we get to go is the fruit stand. The fruit stand we go to is run by a lady who has 2 little girls probably around the ages of 1 and 3, and trust me when I say they are some of the most adorable creations I have ever met. A couple days ago when we were going to buy bananas for breakfast, I held the youngest girl for about 2 minutes before she fell right asleep in my arms. I could have exploded with love. I think that was the first time in being here in Cambodia where I realized that God knew exactly what he was doing bringing me across the world. His plan is so much greater than one that I could have ever thought of on my own. He is so alive in the people and places here.
Here’s some more info on my team, Kaleo, as I’ve gotten to grow closer with all of them:
– Amber: Extremley strong and steadfast. Such a kind heart and tender love for her family. Very resiliant.
– Moriah: A natrural leader. So talented in every form of the arts. A soul on fire for the Lord with such a strong desire to grow closer to him.
– Steph: Has a beautiful gift of making you feel important and comforted. Very wise and radiant. Always knows just what to say.
– Alyssa: Gentle and kind spirit. Loves every single one of God’s creations with such a passion. Finds immense joy in the little things.
– Eliza: Loves you like you’ve known her forever. Confidence that shines so beautifully. Not afraid to tell you what you need to hear.
– Annika: Can you make you really and truly belly laugh. A pure heart that loves so deeply. Radiance that is so easily visible.
– Grace: Such a giving and sweet heart. Can always make you smile. Selfless. Very intentional in her words and actions.
I looovvveeee my sisters so dang much and I can’t wait to see how the Lord uses us each individually and as a team to bring Kingdom to the country of Cambodia.
Overall life here is grand. I look forward to updating y’all weekly on how God is working here. Thank y’all x100 for your countined prayers and donations. If you have any questions about anything feel free to contact me! You people are awesome.
with love,
Josie
