On the way to ministry for the last three months we have past by so many fields on the way to the village of Los Corrales. One of the fields in particular I have noticed almost every time. This field started out as just a dirt field. There was nothing different about this dirt field from other dirt fields we have seen. On one of the days to ministry I noticed several men starting to pound wooden posts into the ground. It looked like very hard work. Days past and they were soon done. They continued the process of starting a new crop. There were rows in dirt. Seeds were planted, and after a few more days I saw new seedlings lining each of the rows. These plants looked strong, but soon white tarps were placed over each of the rows, sheltering the new plants from the sun and keeping all of the water by the plants. Today was our last day of ministry and the plants are about a foot high. I was able to see that some of the tarps were removed because the plants were strong enough to endure the hot sun.

With seeing all that happened over this past month with the new plants on the field, God showed me how all of that happened is a picture. He showed me in conclusion something that I had been learning over the past three months in Guatemala. My journey with God is several things. It will take work. It will be hard. I have to be ready and willing to remove all that is in the way from my relationship with him. I have to have faith in the growth that he is preparing and showing in my life. At first my faith was small, for I had no idea of how great of a God I trusted in. Over the course of the three months here, there have been several things that have grown me in my relationship with him. Many times I wondered if God was with me in several things, and he truly was. He continued and continues to show himself to me so much that I know that God is always with me and that he wants to make himself known to me!

This past week was PVT(Parent Vision Trip), and my parents were able to make it. Since it has been 6 months since seeing them, at first it seemed weird to see them. I had been living with the squad – new family that I had grown with over the past months. But to see my parents was really good. To welcome them into the ministry that we were doing here in Guatemala for the past 3 months was awesome! We did yard work on Wednesday, on Thursday we did ATL(Ask The Lord), and Friday we had somewhat of a VBS. All of these things were really good. It was really cool to see the ways God was moving.

My parents left this morning, and this was the first set of goodbyes of Guatemala. On Tuesday we will leave for Cambodia. We will say bye to the staff at the base that poured into our lives for the past 3 months. The staff here had lived their lives as examples of Christ. They don’t just say many things. They also back up those things with their actions and how they live out their lives. Even though leaving will be hard, Cambodia will be new in several ways and I am excited for all that comes with arriving in a new country.
