One of the first countries my squad and I are going to is Ecuador. The population is; 16.8 million people. The official language is Spanish. The capital of Ecuador is Quito. 95% of the population is Roman Catholic, while the indigenous population blend those beliefs with ancient customs. Ecuador gets its name, because the equator runs through it. The Andes mountains splits the country in half, with Quito being in the mountains.

Next, we are going to Peru. Since Peru and Ecuador are bordering countries, my squad will split the time of 3 months between these 2 countries. The population is; 32.5 million people. The official language of Peru is Spanish, although there are other indigenous languages such as; Quechua and Aymara. The Capital is Lima. The main religion of Peru is predominantly Roman Catholic, yet as the same as Ecuador, the indigenous population has blended those beliefs with ancient customs. Machu Picchu is one of the new 7 wonders of the world, and it is located in Peru.

For the next 3 months, we will be in Guatemala. The population is; 17.3 million people. The official language of Guatemala is Spanish. The capital is Guatemala City. Mayan Spirituality, Catholicism, and Christianity are most of the religions on Guatemala. Mayan spirituality has still very much of a presence, particularly in the highlands. While Guatemala is known for it’s volcanic landscapes, please pray for the people who were affected by the recent volcanic eruption.

For our final 3 months, we will be in Cambodia. The population of Cambodia is; 16.2 million people. The official language is Khmer. The capital is Phnom Penh. About 97% of Cambodia is Buddhist, with Islam, Christianity, and tribal animism making up the bulk of the remainder. An interesting fact about Cambodia is; around half of its population is younger than 15 years of age, and the country lacks people over the age of 50 years old.
