When attending college, I would often come home on the weekend to see family, friends and have home cooked meals. Every time I drove home I would take the same route, driving through the same towns, stopping at the same gas stations except one time. This time, as I headed home I hit a road block. The reason it was blocked was because the bridge ahead was having work done and no cars could pass. At the time, I was not happy about having to change my route and take what I thought to be a longer way home. But, I soon realized that on this route the speed limit was 10 MPH faster, there weren’t any red lights and because there were less cars I would get home much quicker. This new route got me home 30 minutes sooner than my normal route and I was home in time to watch the Clemson football game with Dad!!
Often, as followers of Christ there will be road blocks as we see them. We will apply for that dream job and never hear back. Maybe we lose that long time friend or loved one and it hits us very hard. We begin doubting ourselves, and asking questions. During these times we must look to the Lord, first. God is with us, in the good and the bad. He is leading. We need to trust and follow. Job, a man devoted to God, was tried over and over by satan. He lost family, friends and wealth but he still trusted God and found comfort in knowing the Lord was faithful even though what happened did not make sense. Road blocks in our life don’t necessarily mean the end is near or we are to give up. I believe they are God’s way of showing us his Sovereignty, growing us and leading us in the way He wants us to go. We draw closer to Him, because He is faithful to His promises and we can put all our trust in Him.
Prayer Requests:
1. That I would stay positive and encouraged as I reach out and share about the mission God has called me to. That the Lord would guide me in speaking to others about my support for the year.
2.That God would grow the relationships on my team and we would stay focused on the mission ahead as we get closer to launch in August.
3. As I seek to raise support, pray that I will completely trust Him to lead, for He knows my needs and my inadequacies.
