As I enter month 2 of India, I wanted to give you guys a ministry recap and share details about what life here in India has been like the last month! Since my last ministry post, we have done more church construction, more painting, more kitchen duty, went to a singing competition, helped out on the preschoolers first day, conversational English with the college students, and held a one day bible study!
Church construction– These are some of my favorite days! We, the church, get to physically build up the church. The community is building a new church right by the college, and we have been helping move LOTS of bricks and sand bags to help prepare for when they make cement. CC days are usually all squad days, so we get to do ministry all together!
Painting– We painted the halls of the higher secondary school.
Kitchen– Kitchen days are such sweet days! It’s a day spent with just my team, and it’s usually very restful. We help prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner and do the dishes after each meal! My favorite part is getting to talk to our friend Dara. He is in charge of all the meal planning and it’s been a joy to get to know him. These days are fun, joyful, peaceful, and usually include lots of singing and dancing.
Singing competition– We spent two ministry days at a singing competition that was at a nearby village. We got to support the kiddos and young adults as they recited bible verses and doctrines, and sang.
Pre-k first day– This day was an interesting one. We knew we were helping out at the school, but was unsure what that was going to look like. We arrived at the school to see about 140 little ones being dropped off by their parents for the first day of pre-k! We then got split up into 4 different classrooms with 3 of us to a room, and spent about 2 hours trying help with all the kiddos that were crying.
One day bible study- We teamed up with the boys team once again and headed to a nearby village to put on a one day bible study (VBS) for the kids in the community. It was SO much fun! Two of my teammates and I linked up with the older girls and we worshipped, I shared my testimony with them, and then we shared a message on Luke 15. It was really special getting to minister to girls who were close in age to us. We got to empower them, lift them up, encourage them and remind them that they are loved, cherished, and being pursued by the Lord each and every day.
Conversational english- Each day after lunch, 12 of us volunteer to go down to the college and do conversational English with the students. It’s definitely challenging, but so rewarding because we are able to build relationships with them while also helping them with their English speaking skills.
Prayer ministry– Some other really awesome things that have been happening outside of set ministry time is prayer within my squad! Every Wednesday we have prayer from 2-3 where we gather together and pray specific prayer for our squad-mates. Whether it be personal, or for family and friends, it is being prayed for by all 45 of us! We also had a prayer burn last week where we all chose an hour through the night from 7pm-7am to pray specific prayers for each individual person on the squad. I love that we as a squad are reaching out in new ways to pray for our squad-mates and their friends/family. We are getting to pray big prayers over people half way across the world and it’s truly a blessing to have my squad as my prayer warriors.
Free time ministry– I’ve been trying to be more intentional with my free time, so I decided to join my teammate, Dan, on the soccer field! I’ve never played before and I have no idea how to play, but the college students have been more than welcoming. It’s been a lot of fun getting to know them and build friendships with them.
Life in India is FLYING by! It’s hard to believe how quickly time is going. While it was a weird transition at first, I am loving it here in India. The Lord is continuing to teach me about the importance of self discipline, how to be intentional with my time, and what is means to truly abide in Him.
Prayer request:
- That my passion for ministry would continue to only grow.
- That I wouldn’t become distracted by thoughts of home.
- That I would continue to grow in the fruit of gentleness.
- That my prayer life would grow.
- That I would experience the Lord in new ways.
- Healing for my knees and hips.
- For discernment and clarity on college decisions.
Thanks for reading, friends and family! I love and miss you all, and am incredibly grateful for each and everyone of you. Please let me know how I can be praying for you! See you on the next blog post <3
