Highs:

  • Tim, Holly, Tristan, Sean, Caleb, Katie, Malachi, Andrew, Max, Abby, Alex, Ella, and Wilson. Getting to do life with all of you for a month was for sure a high!

  • Having Deep life conversations as a church

  • Singing hymns in the living room

  • Watching movies for team time with popcorn on a tv while sitting on couches.

  • Tristan trying new recipes and getting to be the taste testers

  • Praying over Tim and Holly at the end of our month as a team

  • Getting Starbucks and Chili’s— small comforts from the states

Lows:

  • Dogs eating our underwear and ripping holes in our shirts

  • Being charged by three sheep while walking back to the house

  • Street dogs barking at all hours of the night for no reason

  • Being away from family on Christmas

  • Having to pay for more transport from Machu Picchu because of a landslide taking out a bridge

  • Crossing a river that was knee deep with rushing water with all our stuff in the dark

  • A squad-mate losing His wallet and Passport right before leaving Peru

  • Arriving in Lima at the bus station at 4:30 am and nothing being open, so having to wait till 7 before being able to get a cab to our hostel

  • Getting peed, vomited, and drooled on by all the children

  • Peeling the tape off of the windows only to put new tape on

  • Squad-mate passing out on rainbow mountain for lack of oxygen

Bozos:

  • Almost getting caught setting out a gift for your Secret Santa.

  • Trying not to figure out who your secret Santa was when everything in you just wants to know.

  • Trying to fit 6 people into a small SUV with all our bags to get to our hostel (we made it work but it looked like a clown car)

  • Almost stepping on a small child when trying to go to the bathroom on a dark bus because the child was laying in the aisle

  • Thinking we would be the reason for a new scenario at training camp when we sent two teammates with all our bags in a taxi to the bus station without a baby phone to contact them. And we show up to the bus station thinking they would already be there and they don’t end up arriving for another half hour because their taxi got lost.

  • Finding your candy opened in the pantry because Malachi (who is 5) helped himself to our snacks.

  • Making cookies for New Years and your teammates stealing half the cookie dough to eat raw when you are not looking.

  • Having to walk back from the market because we didn’t know what bus to take.
