a big fat welcome to all of you to my very first blog post!!!
to kick this thing off I wanted to tell you a little about what the World Race: Gap Year is and why I am doing it, in an attempt to help you get to know me a little better…
the World Race: Gap Year is a nine month, four country mission trip through the nonprofit organization Adventures in Missions. There are 6 routes within the gap year program going all over the world. From September 2018 to June 2019, with a team of 8-10 people, I will be traveling to Ethiopia, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Cambodia. Within these four countries our squad will be partnering with churches and ministries in local communities to share the gospel and spread the love of Christ in any way that we can. We will be teaching English, helping with disaster relief efforts, providing hiv education, doing prostitute outreach, working in orphanages, and sooo much more!!!
I’m going to be honest with you, When I first heard about the World Race, I thought to myself “wow that would be really cool…but for someone else”. I had plans of my own. (I had to go to college!!!) But I just couldn’t get the world race out of my head. The thought of going out and loving people and actively working to further the kingdom of God just kept calling to me. Over and over I told myself that there was no way that I could do it: I didn’t know enough; I wasn’t experienced enough; I wasn’t tough enough; I just wasn’t enough. After weeks and weeks of prayer, God showed me that I am not enough, and I never will be enough, but I don’t have to be because MY FATHER IS ENOUGH.
One of my newest and most favorite quotes is this: “God does not call the equipped, He equips the called”
That is my mantra as I enter into this new season of my life. I truly believe that the Lord has called me out of my comfort zone to go and spread the amazing news of the gospel through the World Race Gap Year program. I could not be more excited to spread the RELENTLESS LOVE of our Savior and the UNFATHOMABLE JOY that comes from knowing him and all that he has done for us.
