Ever wonder what a day on the World Race is like? Well wonder no more! Here in India, every day is different so this “day in the life“ is only able to give you an idea of my day to day.

This was my day of Wednesday January 30, 2019 in India.

6:27 wake up

6:27.2 roll over and close my eyes again

6:32 get down off of my top bunk and run to the squatty potty down the hall

6:34 walk out of the other squatty and realize the pants I washed yesterday and hung up bled blue dye down the wall

6:35 wash hands

6:40 Inquire among others (squad leader Kayleigh) how I should approach cleaning up my mess… she suggests bleach and ta-da! It’s gone, yay!!

6:50 get dressed in the same outfit I’ve worn more times than I care to mention

6:50.9 brush teeth

6:52 spit

6:58 leave for daily devotions at the gazebo/pond

7:13 sip milk tea and read the Word with Alex, Gillian, and Mak by the pond (it’s the warmest place in the morning)

7:15 – 7:56 read 2 Samuel 14-16

8:00 breakfast! 3 pieces of buttered toast and a hard boiled egg and another cup of milk tea

8:01.4 Buster the local dog walks in our meal tent and he smells rank! Like absolutely awful! Lots of people agreed he smelled like the dead dog that was rotting outside of our compound in Swaziland.

8:34-9:00 talk to Emili about what I’m reading in the Bible, and my night

— sing songs with Nate waiting to leave for ministry—

9:55 tuk tuk to ministry at Agape rehabilitation center

10:13 arrive and sing worship songs together, Alex shares about how everyone will face temptations, Abigail shares about how God chooses to use broken people over righteous people.

11:02 broke into small groups and got to know each other by asking lost of questions. These men were very open about what they’ve struggled with

11:41 played volleyball together

12:13 tea spilled all over me because Troy, who I was sitting next to got excited about the chip he had just knocked in on the carom board (I was very bad at this game)

12:55 leave (walk back)

1:45 arrive at meal tent for soup and a bun

2:05 leave meal tent to walk to the dorm’s roof for prayer time

2:25 all squad prayer on the roof of our dorm

3:25 end prayer time

3:33 walk to play volleyball with the locals

4:00-4:20 actually played volleyball

4:21 bought a bag of cheese curls

4:21-24 struggled to open the bag of cheese curls

4:22 walked to Bungola (meal tent)

5:00 dinner! Rice, potato-tomato-carrot-chicken curry, you name it, big chip, salsa, and then a special surprise, drum role please, chocolate balls from Goshen bakery given to our squad from an anonymous donor!! I think U squad is single handedly funding the bakery at the moment. They sell fudgey brownies, cake pops, snowball cookies, shortbread cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and more!

5:50 walk back from dinner to the dorm

5:59.5 grab a cookie from my room

6:00 blogging team time (go subscribe to my teammate’s blogs they are so good!! And they will give you a fuller picture of what I’m doing on the race.)

7:00 worship rehearsal on the roof for an all night prayer session coming up on Friday night

8:19 finish rehearsal (sounded beautiful btw. Man is this squad talented!)

8:21 pee

8:21.9 wash my hands

8:32 change into PJs (shorts and the same shirt I’ve worn for 2 days and spilled tea on today, don’t judge, welcome to the WorldRace)

8:34 brush teeth

8:35 spit (sorry dentist it wasn’t 2 minutes)

8:35.7 put in retainers (but orthodontist, I did wear my retainers to bed!)

8:40 snuggle up on my top bunk under my sleeping bag, with my Qatar airlines blanket, and a big warm blanket our host provided for each of us. Even though it only reaches a low of 45 degrees at night these rooms have no heat and trap the cold, so blankets and layers are a must!

8:48 snuggle in with my favorite book Fever 1793 that I brought with me all this way

8:54 power went out which also means the WiFi is out too, gotta whip out the headlamp to read my book now

9:16 power is back!

9:28 I can’t keep my eyes open any longer they are so heavy so I pray and go to sleep

9:30 Goodnight
