I did it! This is my first official blog post for the World Race 9 month trip I will be going on next year. In this post I will answer the number one most asked questions. “Where will you be going?” and “What will you be doing?” Soon I be traveling to Swaziland, Nepal, India, and Guatemala!!! I will officially leave September 10th of 2018 from Adventure in Missions base in Georgia to begin my nine month missions trip in Swaziland. I will be traveling with about 50 other young adult believers. Together we will serve God and work towards following his call to bring heaven to earth. Throughout the nine months we will focus on building relationships in the communities we travel to. In Swaziland there is a huge need for teachers because nearly 40% of Swazi children lose their parents to AIDs, so our mission will be to serve and teach and be caregivers for orphans. In Nepal we will focus our attention to preaching the gospel to a people who are ready to listen to the word of God. Nepal’s culture and history has been predominantly Hindu and Buddhist however after the earthquake in 2015 interest in Christianity is rising. My team will be going to fulfill humanitarian needs in the communities we will be staying in and preaching to a people now ready to listen. India is the number 2 most populated country in the world, second to China however it will soon surpass China in population. The historically rigid caste system has segregated the rich and poor classes, and let crimes against social justice, discrimination, and forced prostitution to go unchecked. My team will be going to India to serve, “the least of these” just as Jesus instructed us to, focussing on sex trafficking victims, and those living in slums. Lastly, my team will travel to Guatemala. My team will travel beyond the tourist and resort cities to the poverty stricken villages where we will preach the hope found in Jesus Christ. Taking a gap year will help me to discover what passions, gifts, and talents God has given me to pursue for the Kingdom of God. Through this year it is my prayer that I will grow closer to God, learn to share my faith and my story, and to learn more about the world that I live in and the diverse people God has created.
