Filandia, Colombia.
A beautiful city tucked into the hills and mountains of Quindío, Colombia. The streets here are filled with colorful buildings, kind people, amazing coffee, and lots of little smiling faces.
We arrived here on Wednesday evening.
We sat in a cute little restaurant, enjoyed authentic Colombian food, and talked about our travel day.
The Lord’s provision was so clear in delivering us here safely.
We flew from Atlanta to Ft. Lauderdale.
Then from Ft. Lauderdale to Medellin, Colombia.
We rested in the airport for a few hours and took a bus at about 4 AM to a bus stop.
From there, we took a taxi to a bus terminal in Medellin.
The next bus was about an hour, taking us to another terminal with buses traveling all over Colombia.
We then hopped on another bus, taking us on a 5-hour trip through the (very windy) backroads.
We stopped at the cutest restaurant/market/overlook tucked on the side of the road beside a river.
At the end of that bus ride, we hopped on one more; this bus took us to Filandia, where we are staying for the next couple weeks.
Our hosts, Karson and Ason, work in the city at a place called “La Fundación,” where they host children after school between 2-5 for games, crafts, bible lessons, and snacks. These kids are THE SWEETEST. They are joyful, shy, but love to be asked questions. They need (and love) attention and adoration, so I pray that every day I would be filled with the Holy Spirit and would pour out love to them from the overflow of my cup, rather than the leftovers at the bottom.
Karson and Ason are doing incredible work here in Filandia, as well as in Armenia. Their other ministries include evangelism workshops (Armenia), partnering with a church (Armenia), ministering to farm schools (Filandia), and youth evangelism (Armenia). If you feel led to contribute to their work here in Colombia, I will share some resources to do so soon!
Each day, we will wake up and participate in one or two of these ministries, praying that the people of Filandia and Armenia would understand the depth of the love the Father has for them. Would you be praying for these things with us?
The work He wants to do in this place has nothing to do with our team being here – it has everything to do with the will of God, and our faithfulness in saying “yes” to whatever part we can play.
