Debrief this month was in Mendoza, Argentina. At debrief our mentor sat all 24 of us down and explained a surprise to us. She had been trying to get one of her squads to walk the El Camino for years. It turned out that we would be that squad, if we said yes. We were given 20 mins to pray and think about our answer. As we got a yes or no you were told to write it on a piece of paper and put it in a pile. Ok I had no idea what the camino was so I was happy when she explained what it was before those 20 mins began.

The camino is a 500 mile walk from France to the coast of Spain. It’s very famous for the saints that have walked it years ago. Its rouggly 1,000 years old and takes some people 2 months to walk. We would be walking part of it because we only have 15 days, Crazy right!? that also means we wouldnt be going to Albania for our month 11, it would be spent in Spain. Then our final debrief would be in Portugal. At this point I’m like What!? Spain! Portugal! That’s so cool! So Fran our mentor starts music and people spread out. I get quiet so I can listen and all I hear is: “I told you, you were gonna walk.” At this point I have figured it out, God is a turd, he has the biggest sense of humor ever. How do I know? And what is the significance of walking? Well let me explain.

When I found the worldrace I thought it was a backpacking trip. Missions when you got there and mostly backpacking from place to place. God told me at training camp to pack light and be ready. I thought I was, until I show up to launch and everyone has packs bigger than me! What the heck God?! It’s not a backpacking trip, we just use backpacks for traveling. So I was a little upset. Then begining of month 5 God puts this into my lap. “I told you, you’re gonna walk.” He has a werid sense of humor. Of course I wrote yes on the paper to vote but I did it with a grin on my face because I know God wanted me to walk this walk. I’m so excited to see what God does. Something I’m learning from this is never ignore a promise God makes to you. He holds up his end of the deal really well.

Our deadline for funding got moved back to March! But in order to walk the El camino I need to be fully funded by the end of March. Please consider donating if you haven’t already! I love and miss you guys so much!
