Hello from Ethiopia!
We adventured into Addis today and of course the one day we get wifi, I forget my phone…so if I haven’t answered messages, etc. I am so sorry! Also, shout out to Ré who is letting me write this on her phone!
We’ve been living at HOPEthiopia in Harbu Chulule (about 2.5 hours south-ish from Addis Ababa, aka 2.5 hours from the nearest wifi). It’s a multi acre compound with a children’s village (orphanage), training center, plus brick building area. My team and I have primarily been playing with the kids (lots of soccer, drawing, and making bracelets) and occasionally helping another team with their brick work (mostly shoveling dirt or carrying bricks).
I’m doing really well, very tan (we’re talking chaco tan of epic proportions), and pretty tired. But it’s been a good time. Where we are living is beautiful and the weather is perfect -maybe 60s at night and 80s during the day with evening storms (the rain is freeeeeeezing, might’ve stood out in it one night and felt so alive).
