Come Thou Fount- God is a fountain. “Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints, for those who fear Him have no lack.” (Psalm 34:9). He does not allow us to lack. He is a fountain. He gave the Israelites rushing water from a rock – even though they complained. They didn’t even seek Him. Yet He provided in abundance. How much more must He be willing to give His Sons and Daughters who cry out not in complaint but in desperation. “Those who fear God have no lack.”
No lack, none. He provides in abundance. He will provide for each of us. All these needs, each of us needs something. We all have needs. Whether we know it or not, whether we know how to express them or not, whether we know how to receive the fulfillment of them or not – God knows them fully. He understands even our lack of expression, He is the only fulfillment.
When we are alone, caught up in our headspace, stuck in the swirling gray mess that is our unformed thoughts – struggling to make sense, when we are locked inside of our minds and bodies – unable to break out, smothered and unable to be free, when we are lost and unable to find our way through the dark, unable to understand why it’s dark during the day, these times are when He is the biggest. “Even the darkness is not dark to you” (Psalm 139:12). “Those who fear Him have no lack.” In those times, how do we not lack?
It seems, in these times, as though we lack understanding. We lack capability. We lack capacity, light, freedom, control. But God says we have no lack. In Him we have no lack. In Him there is no lack. So how do we see that in those times? It is reality that there is no lack for those who fear Him, but how does this become out reality in those times when we feel crushed by lack?
Jesus, Jesus, only Jesus. Truth. The repeating of truth, over and over and over. The repeating of truth, over and over, until it swells, fills the air, fills out tornados of thought, fills the darkness with life, fills our cages and bursts the bars. He is the fulfillment of our needs. He is the destruction and obliteration of our dark places. He is the clarity.
