The last night of the race, my squad walked out to Kata beach in Phuket, Thailand to worship one last time together.

As the tide came in and our feet became covered in sand and salt, we worshiped at the top of our lungs- screaming some of our favorite songs we had sung hundreds of times together throughout the race.

After the last song I had a nudging to ask for one more song. And then to say something for my squadfamily. Usually I’m not prompted to speak much during worship, but it was our last night and I felt overcome with the Holy Spirit, how could I not say anything?

So I walked up behind Julia, our worship leader, and asked if we could sing Joy, by Housefires, then got up the courage to talk over the waves to my people.

“So before we leave tonight I want us to sing the song Joy because throughout the race we’ve been given so so so much joy and when we go back home we NEED to give that joy away. It’s our job! We need to be a light for the Lord through the joy we carry, and exemplify it every day for others. We are ending this season with joy and we need to start our next season with it too. People are so hungry and so thirsty to know true joy and happiness, and we know that that only comes from knowing God, so why would we not share it? I just want us to sing this one last time with all of the energy inside of us.”

So my prayer for my family in this transition home is that joy would fill each of you up and overflow from you in every step and every adjustment. It will be hard at times, there’s no denying it, but I pray that you would remain in the Lord’s Joy no matter the circumstance.

May the Lord bless you and keep you; may He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you; may He turn his face toward you and give you peace

~Numbers 6: 24-26

Every one of you, my brothers and sisters on V Squad, radiates the light from a life with Christ, it’s undeniable and it can’t be hidden, no matter what.

Love you all with all of my heart.

Many blessings,
