**Wow, two posts in one day! Keep reading I promise you won’t regret it**
If you haven’t heard, about two-thirds of my squad missed our flight from Bogotá, Colombia to Guatemala City, Guatemala!!
What a day it was. We originally left Lima, Peru at 1am on Saturday Dec. 8, arrived in Bogotá at 4:30am and we’re set to leave for Guatemala at 12:05. Unknown to all 33 of us, the gate got changed and we ended up missing our flight by just 5 minutes. The next 8 hours would consist of team leaders, our logistics leader, and one of our squad leaders scrambling around the airport to figure out when our next flights will be and where we will stay for the night. After thinking we may have to pay for all of the tickets again, we found out that they would give us our flights completely for free!
•In our lack of finances, God provided a double portion.
Luckily, this squad, and my team, was blessed with Melissa Aleman. Melissa’s mother is from Columbia and happens to have friends who still live there. After many calls from New York to Bogotá we were offered a house to stay in! Upon arrival to the house they had made beds for us, bought snacks for us, and offered us showers.
•In our lack of shelter, God provided a double portion.
13 of our squad mates had flights for Monday (Dec. 10) while the other 20 had flights on Tuesday (Dec. 11). For those who left Monday, they were provided transportation to the airport bright and early at 6:30am. But for those who stayed, we were given an opportunity for rest and a day to explore Bogotá.
I was in the group that left on Tuesday, and it was honestly massive blessing in disguise. Monday consisted of us sleeping in and getting breakfast, then we were taken to a BEAUTIFUL park and got to spend time outside in God’s creation and find joy by swinging, talking, and playing hacky-sack with one another.
If you’ve read my previous blog about rest, you can understand that this day at the park was just the rest I needed.
•God took my lack of rest and gave me a double portion.
After lunch we were taken to the top of a mountain, via gondola, to see the view out over the city. To our surprise, the top of the mountain was decorated with Christmas lights. We spent almost 2 hours walking around the light displays, drinking hot drinks, and even made it onto Colombian TV!
•God knew I was lacking in joy when it came to the holidays, but He took that lack and returned it 10 fold (double portion).
This morning my team and I left Bogotá, finally, but it wasn’t without being reminded of just how much God loves us and that He will ALWAYS provide for us.
•Instead of leaving us hungry, He gives us a double portion. Thanks God!
Many bendiciones,
G
