Hello!
I haven’t updated you all on my life in a while. I am currently in India writing a blog about Nepal. It is such a beautiful lost country that I want each of you to experience in some way.
Where?
While we were there my team and one other team (W.O.H.C Tribe) stayed with a host family. They showed us the light and joy of Nepal by being the perfect example of Christ. They were such servants to us, always doing so without expecting to be rewarded or noticed. They always were looking for ways to love each of us and make us feel known. We stayed in the city of Kathmandu for eleven days out of the month that we were there in a district called Kalanki. Our house was lime green and three stories tall, the top floor has a terrace and then you can go on the roof, too. That was my favorite spot to spend time with Jesus because you could see all of the colorful buildings of Nepal and the mountains that surrounded. On clear days you could even see a mountain that was part of the Himalayan mountain range.
For the other half of our stay in Nepal, we stayed in a smaller village called Gorkha. We stayed in tents this week. We had campfires each night and could see a decent section of the Himalayas including Manaslu, the eighth tallest mountain in the world.
We spent the last week of our time in Nepal having a rest week (debrief) in the tourist district of Thamel in Kathmandu
When?
We arrived December 10 and did ministry through December, celebrating Christmas in Gorkha and New Years in Thamel over debrief
What?
Our ministry varied a lot in Nepal from:
- Women’s ministry
- Home visits
- orphanages
- Hindu schools
- praying over Hindu and buddhist temples
- Attending different churches and sharing lessons and testimonies
- Hiking (my personal favorite)
Highlights
- seeing the Himalayas
- Meeting our host family
- Eating so many momo dumplings
- celebrating Christmas in a new way
- lots and lots of hiking
- beautiful Marigolds and poinsettias
Lowlights
- getting sick
- home sickness
- spiritual unrest
- only taking one shower the whole month
Overall, Nepal was an amazing piece of my journey and I wouldn’t trade it out for the world. I fully anticipate on visiting again. I will miss you, Nepal!
