Attention!!! I have reached my goal of funding and do NOT need any more donations (however, prayers are still welcome :). WOW!! Thank you so much to everyone who has helped me out!
The process of support raising was most definitely one that I had no idea how to do. It has been incredibly uncomfortable and something that I avoided and procrastinated quite a bit on (typical me). However, it had to be done. Calls had to be made, letters had to be sent. And little by little I started learning how remarkable the process can be.
One thing that stood out to me through this process was its counter cultural nature. Dependence. Raising support required me to be dependent on others and God. This is unheard of in our culture, hence why the whole process can be uncomfortable for me and the supporters. But dependence is something absolutely required in a life with Christ. We believe in a power that is bigger than us, and we have to lean on God. So even though I absolutely wanted to stand up on my own without any help or leaning…I practiced discipline and leaned… and boy did God provide.
In mine and many of our doubts, it is easy to think that I did this. I put in the effort, I talked to the people, they gave me the support. However, I was very surprised by what and how things came through. It was in no way how I predicted things to happen, and even this small acknowledgement that that there are things going on that are completely out of our understanding and prediction, can strengthen a faith. And to this I am grateful.
So thank you for all of the support and encouragement for this next year. I pray that your investments can be used solely for God’s love and that I can be made a mere vessel for God to do His work.
This is a big deal and I don’t even really know how to feel right now. But I feel like its time for some FUN! Let the adventures begin!!
