This is the worst kind of blog to write or thing to include in a blog but I came across this encouragement the other day that was posted by a former Racer:
“REAL TALK: In my opinion, support raising is the worst. It makes me cringe to ask people I love for money. But let’s be honest. The part of me that cringes is my pride. I tell myself I’m self-sufficient. (What a way to start what’s supposed to be humble servanthood…yeesh.) Y’all, here’s the thing: we don’t raise money for missions so we don’t have to pay. We raise money because, from the get-go, we need to remember we can’t do this alone. We need people. And we need Jesus. We need prayer. We need provision. We need to remember we are not self-sufficient. Not for raising money, not for a mission trip, not for ministry, not for life. If we are to lay down our lives for Jesus, lay down our pride and acknowledge our need, that starts with this. [When you have people ask you for support], prayerfully consider the swallowing of pride it took to ask, and prayerfully consider giving what you can, if you can. And let your giving be symbolic of your joining alongside these [people] and entering a journey with them— one where you say ‘I’m here for this for the long haul.’ Because we need each other, and we need Jesus, from start to finish.”
I really don’t know how to articulate this better than what I just shared with you. I can’t do this alone. And you can’t do your journey alone, either. That’s what Kingdom looks like on earth— partnering together to bring Him the glory.
And, yet, even after I read all that and write down my thoughts, I’m still cringing at what I’m about to say next:
I’m needing some partners to help me reach my goal of $1,740 more left before I can be fully-funded for my time as an alumni team leader. I’m preparing to come home December 17th and am hoping I won’t have to hit the ground running to cover any debts. I’m hoping to announce my future plans soon and have also been waiting to say anything until I am closer to meeting my goal.
If you’d like to know more about what I’ve been up to or have any questions, you can reach out via Facebook Messenger, e-Mail ([email protected]), or WhatsApp (+1-330-204-1834). Thank you for your support!
Please also partner with me in prayer as I
-visit my grandparents in Mexico before coming home (Dec 7th-Dec 17th)
-navigate returning back to the States for longer than a month
-experience the joys and grieving of changing relationships
-search for job opportunities that will allow me to rest while also be intentional with my time and skills
