Just a few days ago, I posted some scattered thoughts on “home.” And, this Christmas morning, I woke up realizing I haven’t really explained what “home” looks like for me during this season.
I want to introduce you to my new team, as of last month, using the Christmas Song that I think best describes them. But, first, I want to introduce you to our former squadmates and now our raised up Squad Leaders:
Left to Right – Nicole, Rob, and Aubrey
Nicole— I’ll Be Home for Christmas/ There’s No Place Like Home by Caleb and Kelsey
This girl is my other half! We are SO similar and I love it! Nicole feels like home— always so warm and inviting to everyone. Ot is so appropriate that her favorite color is yellow as I completely believe she is brings “the sunshine of a friendly gaze” always.
Rob— Little Drummer Boy by TobyMac
When closely listening to the words of this song, there is one thing I recognize that Rob consistently lives out— humility.
“I have no gift to bring // That’s fit to bring our King // … // I played my best for Him”
Those lyrics are a perfect reflection of the way I have witnessed Rob approach God and offer Him the very best of himself and I can definitely picture God, our Papa, smiling at him.
Aubrey— Greatest Time of Year by Aly and AJ
When I think of Aubrey’s precious personality, the fun lyrics, “Pretty paper boxes tied with bows // Walking in the sun or snow” are such a fun way to summarize her.
Her presence is such a gift to others.
Our squad leaders cover the squad in prayer, help with training team leaders, make decisions about where teams will be each month, make decisions about team changes, and spend time with different teams throughout the months.
We had the joy of having all three of our squad leaders with our team for Christmas.
My team:
From Left to Right: Brandon, Tom, Alicia, me, Taylor, and Riley.
Taylor (Team Leader)— Go Tell It On the Mountain by Tenth Avenue North
This funky beat and powerful song is definitely a reflection of our fearless leader, Taylor. He is unashamed in his devotion and love for God and it is super contagious.
Alicia (Treasurer)— Holly Jolly Christmas by Michael Bublé
My girl!!! I have had SO many “Holly Jolly” moments with this precious lady! Our team will attest that her laugh is is the BEST and the joy is contagious. She is truly a “cup of cheer.”
Brandon (Co-Logistics Coordinator)— Santa Claus is Thumbing to Town by RelientK
As some of you know, I am ONE of the Logistics Coordinators for our whole squad; Brandon is the other. This time around, we get to be on a team together and I am loving it. I chose this particular song, not only because RelientK is a little touch of home for both Brandon and I (O-H-I-O), but also because of Brandon’s constant fun play on words. He is such a blast to be around.
Riley — Deck the Halls by Pentatonix
I chose this song for Riley because her colorful personality is always inviting others in preparing for more guests into the Kingdom of God. Riley is also my justice partner as her and I have both been accepted into the Justice Training School in Thailand!
Tom— God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Tenth Avenue North
When I came across this song, I immediately thought of Tom. Not only has he been a refreshing example of a gentleman toward the females on our team, but he also has a testimony that is an awesome example of the power found in God!
Merry Christmas Adams and Eves!
*Also, I found an abandoned kitty on the street today and brought it “home.” Hehehe Day Made!
