Training camp starts in less than a week! And, as I gear up for training camp, I’m thinking a lot about what all I’d like to accomplish while on the Race. I find that writing out my goals helps keep me accountable to achieve those goals, so, below is a little list of some of my goals for the Race. Some are more fun and others are more serious goals, but all are things I’d love to see become realities while abroad! God wants to fulfill the desires of our hearts, so please partner with me in praying for these things to happen!
- Drink from a coconut
- Eat a bug
- Jump off of something (A waterfall? A bridge? A plane?)
- Pet a giraffe
- Find a great (or at least mediocre?) vegan friendly restaurant in every country
- Connect with people through photography/video
- Go on a safari
- Paint a mural
- Sleep under the stars (aka no roof, and tent roofs count)
- Find at least one great story to tell in each country
- Visit an elephant sanctuary
- See someone healed
- Worship with people in spanish
- Push myself to be consistently creative
- Keep a journal about the ways God is blessing me and stretching me at least once a week
- Become more conscious of the intent behind my words
- Create meaningful, lasting relationships within my squad and with the people we meet in each country
- Be spontaneous and willing to grab hold of every opportunity that presents itself
- Learn Colossians 3:2 in the native language of every country we go to
- Start each day with time with our Lord
- Give an encouragement to someone in my team every day
- Learn to proclaim the Gospel with unashamed abandon and urgency
I’m so excited to see all the incredible ways God is going to work in me, my team and the people we’ll meet while on the mission field! I’m sure there are things I expect to happen that God will completely blow out of the water (He’s funny like that) and I pray I’ll be diligent and obedient in following wherever He leads, even if it doesn’t look exactly like my vision for the Race. To Him be all the glory!
